Default HPI Engine rebuild

I just ordered some parts for my cousin.

he has a HPI .15FE engine

I ordered a piston and sleeve for it, his is pretty worn. That is all i will need for a basic rebuild isnt it? i believe on my evader i got the pin and connecting rod, but it doesnt require that does it? were just looking for it to run thats all.

LEt me know if i got the right stuff..

All so makes sure you check the crankshaft bearings. The HPI 15 FE was not the best engine and has a ABN sleeve. I sold a whole running engine on ebay for $30 a couple of months ago.

If you got a lot of metal in the crankcase make sure you get them good and clean. See if there is any ruffness to the bearings at all, if so replace them. Prime them with new oil before you assemble. Good Luck[:-]

If it feels like the bearings have any play or when turning you feel any rough spots in them.

Default RE: HPI Engine rebuild

I have an HPI car with a 012 engine, it is an older car and i have finally got it to run for a short period of time ( i bought it used and the former owner has passed away and i can't get any information about what he has done to it) the guy at the hobby shop says that he thinks the piston sleeve may be in wrong, so after disassembly the sleeve appears to be in correctly all the ports line up. It will run as long as you give it some throttle but as soon as it goes back to idle it shuts down. Any ideas?
