Thinking about buying a JATO.......
I already have a modded 3.3 engine from RBmods.net in my 4-tec that I will put into the JATO "OR" perhaps install a RB Concepts .21 C5 modded big block engine. I also own a 3.3 REVO as well but I want a car that I can make run like a raped ape and I had the 4-tec in mind to do that to but the aftermarket is NOT there for that car. I have researched the JATO aftermarket and it has a ton of good upgrades that would be the ticket for that car for me to build as a top end runner.
What aftermarket gearsets have you guys found or know about?
How strong is the stock transmission and do you guys take out the opti-drive if it has one?
Anyone put a big block kit in one yet?
If I put a bigger motor in, what else besides the CVD's do I upgrade?
Who has one of absolute baddest JATOS out there as far as speed and power? I am not so into looks and body stuff, just pure brutal power and speed.
Thanks.

tranny-when i got mine it had a metal gear and a plastic gear for the 2nd speed, which just tore it up all the time. they mite have changed that now cuz when i got my replacement, it was both plastic gears. if its not changed then you will tear up 2nd speed everytime you do donuts and stuff. a jato doesnt have an opti drive
big block-you can put a big block in with a conversion kit:

if you do get a big block, you will have to change it to a single speed:

cuz by what ive heard you will tear up 2nd gear wit a big block
as far as hop ups go, its best to get rpm a arms and bumper. the only downside to them is thers no where for sway bars

What is the advantage of the RPM arms? Stronger/shorter or what?
So as far as you know, there are not any steel 2nd gears made? This is the stuff that just puzzles me. Traxxas and the aftermarket knows of such issues but makes nothing to solve the problems.
