i just made a post stateing that im getting back into rc. well i want to have someone to bash with. i figure my step sons would have a great time and it will get them outdoors and off the video games. anyways whats a good durable CHEAP like 250 or less nitro truck or car? im looking at the evader and the firestorm or the traxxas sport (which from what i see here isnt the best option). so i want something durable and not too slow compare to the rustler. suggestions?

Firestorm is a great truck. If they want a electric starting system i would go with the Nitro Sport or the XXX-NT Sport, but thats too expensive.

If you want somthing durable and for the price of $250 and have the speed to go 38mph+ and have the power to rip tread from the tires, then I got some great news for you, because there is a truck waiting for you at www.towerhobbies.com with everything that I mentioned written all over it.HPI FIRESTORM.And by the way,it will take video games by STORM!! if you want to splurge a little mare lets say 380 get the jato 3.3. electic start on road offroad carand goes 65+ stock with two gears. very durable crashed at 55 mph rolled about 10 times and slid on to of body and only broke a dirt guard. only 7.50 to fix and most people take them off anyway. it was only a 2 inch crack or less. did not effect the ride at all. check it out pretty nice looking car. it should sell itself. here is a picture. traxxas nitro sport or the firestorm. those would probably be your best options. i wouldnt get the jato 3.3 b/c its very fast and will be very easy to crash. for your first nitro you dont want it to be that fast. stick with something in the 30-45mph range. the firestorm is supposed to be really tough. just dont rush everything and learn as much as you kan. there are alot of people on here that have tons of info and kan help with whatever you need.

ive got tthe GT2 and it is my first nitro and i LOVE IT!!!!
it is not rediculousley fast, and i dont need that yet, and niether do you.
ive onyl broken the fuel tank from a 20 foot jump and landed on the roof. and i also brok the tie rod from a probly 8 foot jump right onto the rear left wheel(a reeeeally bad landing).
but i personally thin, that would be your best bet.

Hey BasherJ, do you know about the off road track in fruitport? It's east of the malls on Sternberg road. Let me know if your interested. 95 % of the guys are racing gt2's, new track layout with clay.

I have heard that the Evader is a good newbmobile. It is a good layout, durable, and has enough options to make it competitive.
I have an Associated RC10GT, and I have to recommend it as well, for the same reasons.
To get back into it, I think you would do well to get something 'tried-n-true', with fewer gadgets and hoo-haa's to get in the way of simple fun and high velocity destruction
.
As far as teaching the youngsters, simple is going to pay off in the beginning, there too.
If you have a lhs nearby, check out what models they stock the most parts for, and take that into consideration. You don't wanna have to wait a week to get something as simple as a C-hub, or a shock tower.
If you have a track,or popular bashing spot near by, check that out as well. If you make some new friends, you might get to test drive some different rigs...I know my controller usually has more fingerprints on it than CSI could separate...(Throttle EPA knob is my best-est friend

stinkypinky is right. it is a really exspensive hobby. i say get a good car and splurge a little, but go easy for a while and get the hang of the car. i would buy a good car i want exspensive or not, but take real good care of it for as long as possible. just do the maitanece and break-in procedures corectly and you should have you car for 5 years minimum. mabe a few fixes here and there, but trust me it would be worth it.
