i have an lrp .18s pro spec in my gt. its really just a basher, and it runs great. it broke in really nice, and with a little tuning it runs mint. most people seem to go for OS but personally i've been really happy with my lrp. Sts putting out 1.51 PS and is good to 31,000rpm. Tower hobbies has them for $120, just make sure you get the clutch nut for it it. The only bad thing is it likes to eat up tires pretty quick if you run it hard.

which header do you have?

the kind that is round with a rubber seal, or the rectangular one with the two header bolts, on on each side?

if its the latter, the os 18 is the one. you wont have to buy a new header.

I am running the OS 18 TZ, it's the engine to run if your bashing. Unreal power when you need it and if geared correctly can be real fast.

ya, they are also great motors.

if he is replacing a rear exhaust engine, thats what he should get.

if its a side exhaust, the cvr would be good.

i'm running the rectangular header. the lrp is a side exhaust. i've had the motor in the truck for almost two years now. i bought a factory team header for it and just took a little time to port it. everything works great. I only bash with the truck, and its got more then enough power. Not to say that you wouldn't be happy with an OS. i've just personally been a fan of the lrp motors and had great luck with it. From what i hear though, i'm sure the OS would be a great little powerhouse for you also.

ya, i have heard those are really good motors too. i bought a used ad1 from ebay and it had one in it. i didnt get to run it though as the previous owner had worn it out so badly the engine would only run cold. once it started to come up to temp it was impossible to keep it running. this was no fault of the lrp of course. i just bought a new 18cvr and stuck in it.

i think you could say these two motors are in the same class, and probably basically identical in performance.

For an RC10GT, I'd say go OS Engines, either an OS .18 CV-R or OS .18TZ. I ran a TZ in my Revo and it was unreal, I could only imagine what it would do in an RC10GT with proper gearing.

drake-ula, haha you could have just bought a piston kit for 30 bucks and saved some money. oh well. My brother had an ooollllddd rc10gt and he always ran an OS motor. this was close to 10 years ago too. from what i saw he got a lot of time out of the motor he had in the truck, so they weren't bad way back then, that's for sure.
