Hello! New to the boards here... I have an older Traxxas Nitro Rustler that came w/ a .15 on it... IT was okay until we wanted more power... and wrecked it a few times. Months later during winter we installed a used engine from a friend of mine, was a Megatech 2.6cc engine... now, I am not really an expert in the hobby yet, so if I make a mistake or two I apologize
This engine moved good... SOmewhat lower compression (can turn by hand) but it ran, only problem is that it will not stay running, but when it does the thing runs fantastic! I am having trouble finding parts for this engine as my LHS says they are discontinued. Brings me to my next point....
I picked up a broken-in TRX 3.3.... 3.3, meet Rustler! I want to do this swap, and I want to do it bad. The 3.3 is used but only 1 quart of fuel ran thru it, still sounds phenomenal. My dilemma is this... Not knowing a whole ton about these yet and only having done two engine swaps, I want to know if there is anything I need to know about the 3.3 swap onto this chassis... Is it worth it w/ the single-speed trans? Should I bother? Or, should I swap the 3.3 onto the T-Maxx 2.5 I have here, and put the 2.5 on the Rustler chassis as that woudl probably make more sense.... IF I decide to go w/ the Rustler 3.3, are there any walkthroughs online? I didnt find any via google...
Thanks!

Rusties are a great little truck and that 3.3 is a little much in my own point of view. I almost always talk my customers into going with the new 2.5R from Traxxas plus its only $100.00 exchange and just a little more to upgrade from the 1.5. You put in a 2.5 and its more than enough power unless you want to just go in a straight line like a Jato

well its a hundred either way if you trade in a .15 or a 2.5 or even a broke 3.3 well mine is 110 w/ pullstart but my friend got rusty 3.3 oh man what a blast its amazing but i think it is worth it but if you do, do a 3.3 conversion you might wanna gear it up real high like 75/24 Integy makes the 75spur but mine will be a little rustler 3.3 friday wen i get PAID

Thanks. I actually just got done installing the 3.3 w/ EZ Start into the wife's T-Maxx (had a 2.5) and Im taking her 2.5 and putting that onto the rustler
Figured it would be nicer than the 3.3 beucase I want to have some sort of control over the truck while driving

just curious ive been out of the r/c car scene for about 6 years, got out my old rustler the other day its just not fast enough for me anymore. im now considering the 3.3 swap. just wondering what is all needed as far as parts go. can the tranny hold up to it?? or would maybe the 2.5r be a better bet?? thanks in advance

3.3 is great and the only problems i have had are.....oh wait none
but nothing should be hurt if you have your slipper right.
and you need the conversion kit to get the 3.3
