hi all,
i am a noob to this hobby but have wanted to do this for a while.
I bought a nitro mt-1 from a guy in novi, MI about a week ago for $190, wish i would have bought an mt2 for 200 but i didnt research it enough so i guess i kinda got ripped.. anyways i got it home and started and what not, first time out to play for 3 minutes, i broke the rear shock tower, which will eventually be aluminum, but riders had the tower, and the 4-40 ball connectors for 10 bucks, so what the heck, i went with the stock for right now.
when playing with it, i noticed if it even gets a little wet, or has some snow on it, the servos lock up and go full throttle so here i am chasing my car down the street, and when i finally get it after it gets stuck i get mud in the face.. YAY!..
anyways here's what i need help on.
After plasti dipping the servos, and hopefully helping to waterproof them, i smoked the cluches and the clutchbell.. i found the stock clutch springs, needle bearing, and the shoes. But i ended up buying a 13 tooth clutch bell.. would this be ok for it, i was told, and researched that going up one - three teeth is ok, but itll give you more top end and not low end, dont want to screw anything else up on the truck, so thats why i am triple checking, i can buy the 12 tooth and spend more if i have to, but will 13 make a big difference or will it be ok?
second of all i looked up pipes for a .15 engine, and bid on one from ebay i didnt think i would win, and won it.. so i paid the 28.16 to get it shipped.. its a redcat racing 02124. So i hope it fits, considering its my own screw up.. does anybody have any idea on how good this pipe is, or if it will even work on my MT? the guy told me it should run a little rich, which i have a nitrostar .15fe that runs a bit on the rich side anyways.
sorry about all the questions, just need to make sure i didnt jip myself by what i have ordered. any help wil be greatly appreciated

well i not know much about your truck but i can asnwer some of your questions. first off if you are unsure about something do what you just did and come on here and ask ask ask. i have been doing this for years and i still find a wealth of info here. okay water is bad it is prolly not your servos but your resiever that needs to be sealed and look into a fail safe Venom makes a good one and its cheap about 25.00. do not feel bad about buying the mt1 i am sure you will do so many upgrades it will not matter in the long run. as far as gearing. you can google the gearing chart for your car most times someone has done it and posted it with gears ratio aprox MPH but rule of thumb the faster your car is the less bottem end you will have as far as gearing goes. just search MT1 gear ratio and you should find something on spur gear changes or bell changes. Just remember sit back relax and enjoy the other side of the hobby as well which is research wishlists working on the car going to the LHS. their is alot more to this than just going out and bashing.

hey thanks for the reply bud, makes me feel like home here on the forums..
i checked the parts listing on hpiracing.com, and the clutchbell i ordered is actually an option part. so i know it will fit.. so more top end is ok i guess.. The pipe is what i am really worried about, but i should get it to fit. I know the hobby is fun and more to bashing, i got a whole 7 minutes of play time before i broke it.. LOL so research is all i have been doing. MY wishlist goes bigger by the day including all aluminum parts, chrome wheels, tires, os .18 cvr-rx engine, 2 speed trans and so on. ill end up getting 500 or more in this before im done with it.
