say i had a nitro stampede. is there anything that i could accidently do to it to make it go backwards when i hit the gas?
i sold my stampede on ebay and the guy sent me a message saying that it goes backwards when he hits the gas. im thinking to myself there is no way in hell this is true. in ordered for it to go in reverse, the flywheel and the clutchbell would have to be spinning in the other direction. and is it possible to put the one way on backwards?
heres what he said:
okay got it to start the one way bearing on the starter was backwards, now another problem when you hit the gas the truck wants to go backwards whats up with that the only reason why i bought our truck was b/c you said it work i do not have the time to mess with it and my nephew's birhtday is friday what do you suppose i should do
this sounds so fishy to me. and it worked fine when i sent it to him.

Nitro engines can run in reverse, I have read about this happening. I do not know enough about the Stampede or its starter bearing to know if it could have been put in backwards, but as I said, it is possible for engines to run in reverse, although not well.

I have seen this happen, more often in the Pro .15 engine. There really isn't anything wrong. Just shut it off and start it again. It's rare for it to happen again and again. If the one way bearing were in backwards, the pull start handle would just pull out really easy and then not go back in the housing.

well the one way could be in wrong/bad and the EZ start wires be on backwards and bam reversed engine.

Yeah, I have had the engine in my RC10GT start backwards numerous times. Usually happens on startup, when it's really rich, and it mis-fires.
I had it happen once when I cased the chassis on the top of a landing, and hit the flywheel...It was hilarious...it cased and rolled down the landing like it was on the brakes...then backed back up the face of the landing, and stalled at the top.
