it is how you gear it that will make it faster but with more power you can get a smaller spur gear or bigger clutch bell gear or bolth

the tz will have alot more power so then you can gear it higher and therefor go faster but i bleave that the rpm is about the same

Default RE: o.s. engine question

it will most depend on the exhaust manifold you allready own as the 18TZ is a rear exhaust and the 18CVR is a side exhaust .
After you will get more power with a TZ but all will depend on the gearing for the best speed.
I have the 18TZ in my RC10GT and to be honest i have to reduce the throttle % from my radio ,from 100% to 70% in order to not flip the truck over all the time at the end of the straight line , the speed is really stupid fast and the car becomes allmost uncontrollable ...

The CVR in a 1/10 truck is more than enough power. You'll find with the TZ it's just too much motor. I have the CVR in my XXX-NT and it's just stupid fast...

Then the 18 TZ will give you more top end ,at least that's what i experienced with mine .
The only thing is that you will need a specific manifold if you do not have a rear exhaust manifold .
here is a pic of what it look's like mounted on my RC10GT with a THS inline exhaust that i found to be perfect with that engine ,it give's it a tremendous amount of top end .

I agree , the TZ is just too much for a 2wd truck . Also if you plan to race , most tracks will not allow .18 engines .

Gas truck will make it`s cycle around again . 1/8 was big 10-15 years ago and then died out and been coming back the past few years .

That would be me for one, though I live in OR. You race at TRCR? Area 52? Church of Dirt? Yeah, 1/10 is on a big decline. What really sucks is that Peel-It closed. That was my favorite track for winter racing!

You should consider racing the NCT. I realize the races are far away, but you get some of the best competition in the USA! Gary Culp and Taylor Peterson, among others, could A main at just about any national level race.

An 18tz in a ST? Sheesh, I can't control my AD2 with a 12tz. An 18 is nearly incomprehensible! As if anyone could need more power, an RB V12 is ever so slightly more powerful than the tz... IMO of course.

This is why you get a os .18 tz it has a dyno 2.28 hp and 5 ports and you can find it for $165.00 the rb v12 is $325.00 and has 3 ports find me a dyno i dont se how it can have more power a highly modded 3 port and 30% smaller i t can have more power hope it would for $325 but i just dont think it will top 2.28 hp

the 18tz with a 5port is not race legal and thats why i think it would be much cheaper then and .12 3port

yes i know the .12tz comes in 3 and 5 ports for around the same cost. one is legal and one is not (i think) depending on where you race

the .18 cv-r is $109-129 at hobby town... more then enough power for all 1/10th truck

so your paying for the for it to be legal

the .18tz is for outlaw class & making the fastest car in your group throw a rc10 24 tooth clutch bell with a 51 tooth kevlar xxxnt spur and you are getting into the 60s with more low end punch then a stock with a 18 tooth clutch bell overkill is what i was going for

I'm pretty sure a XXX-NT will be borderline uncontrollable with a TZ in it.
