ok some of you know about my gt i built. i got a new motor and im wondering how i might be able to run a pull start with my box starter...

i have a pull start motor mount and a flywheel for both pull start and box start but im not sure how this is going to work. i havent installed it yet to try so i thought i would come here to ask first

the fly wheel i have on it seems a bit small (box start). do i need a non pull start motor mount for this to work? or should i try with a other fly wheel?

im looking to have this running by sunday so any suggestions would help alot!

robbio4422: After looking at mine with the pullstart set up I don't know why it wouldn't work with a bump box too. I would say just give it a try.

you are fine all my cars have pull start's but i start them with boxes and only use the pull start if i am far away from the starter box ,as far as your flywheel i dont know but if in the rare case that it does not work well with your box you can find one for cheep from AE MIP or RRP7. Yack so you broke your tz in with out a starter box I bet you have a few skinned nuckles a fresh tz is verry tight ,it is funny i have never used the pull start to start my tz I have only used it to get the piston out of the pinch py pulling it like a inch .

OK so i guess i didnt word it right... i know i can run both. but how do i need to set it up... what motor mount with what flywheel.

right now i have a flywheel for a box start on it but but i have a mount or a pull start... do i just need a motor mount for a boxstarter too?

i have never ran a box start so im kinda stumped and like you said... i dont want to break knuckles trying to get this girl started.

No skinned nuckles here! I made sure it was properly primed the first time I tried to start it and it started on the second pull! I have never had to pull it more than a couple time to get it to start. The pinch is unreal, but as long as it is primed there isn't any problem with starting it. Its an awesome mpotor I love it!

so... anyone know... im about to head to my hobby shop and needing some info on this... and its hobbytown and they have no idea about rc nitro (nitro tech guy has the day off) the rest all all pimply high school kids with an IQ lower then my rat

the pullstart mount makes the engine sit higher on the chassis. and the bumpstart flywheel is smaller that the pullstart flywheel. I guess you need the extra clearance from the pullstart mount for the pullstarter to fit. but if you are going to use a bumpbox with your pullstart motor you will need to use the larger diameter pullstart flywheel so the bumpbox will be able to reach it to make contact. hope this makes some sense. I know what I mean, but it might not make sense to anyone else who is reading it!!

i understand completely... would the larger diameter wheel work even if its thinner or do they make a thicker flywheel thats larger in diameter?

I would think that the pullstart flywheel would be thick enough.

I found that some fly wheels are too small and are a pain to bump start I have 2 gt2 one with a traxxas 3.3 pull start and one with a bump start picco 15 the traxxas will pull start and bump start no problem the picco I had to mod the chassie thats were the dremel comes in handy take a little of by the flywheel to get the bump wheel in with no problem.this helped me hope it works for u.
