no, it's not ROAR legal.. i'm not sure i've ever seen a RTR Nitro vehicle entered into a serious ROAR race to tell you the truth.(i'm sure there is) if you wanted to race this truck change the engine out and your good to go, it will hold up just fine. the only bad thing i ever hear/read about this truck is that it isn't ROAR legal.. who cares... doesn't mean you can't run it at the track and keep up with the 1/8th buggies. this truck is well built and i have not seen any significant differences between other trucks in its class. if anything it has more added features than other RTR trucks i've seen and is cheaper.

Default Evader any good??

The service guy for my house builder has several trucks/cars including a RC10GT. He said the Evader is VERY similar to his RC10GT. He might bring his by so we can put them side by side.

Brad,
So far I like the Evader. The RC10 I do not have experience with. But my service guy may bring his over to do a side by side comparison. Maybe 2 or 3 weeks though, as I will be on the road for 3 days then on vacation through 6/7 (can't wait!). Get to watch the fireworks from NY City (from the water on my boat), hit the beach, go to the Buffet concert. Now watch it'll be the normal Jersey weather and RAIN! Sorry I couldn't be more help with your choice.

it's cool.. i knew full well it wasn't when i bought it.. i might start racing by the time i buy a 1/8 buggy.. who knows. i figure once i can handle a ST with this much power around the track a buggy ought to be a piece of cake. probably not the case, but that's my thinking..

cooch, one main thing about the RC10GT's is parts will most likely be readily available at your LHS, any Duratrax truck its a different story.. granted you can order anything you need but if that isnt for him i would say go with the RC10 just for that reason. your LHS might carry a lot of Duratrax stuff i dunno, i know none do around here. not really a problem for me, i have more than one truck, one breaks i order parts and drive the other.

there are hop-ups for the Evader aswell you just have to order them.. the Evader is a lot like other trucks so hop-ups meant for other trucks will also work for the evader.. just have to know exactly what you need..

no they aren't, the evader has only been out for a few months.. only ones i've bought so far is the aluminium hinge pin brace for the front, and rechargable reciever pack. i'm sure they will become more readily available in time.. it comes with quite a few hop ups as it is..

My lhs likes the Duratrax and stocks some parts but will order anything I want and match most mail order prices. I do a reasonable amount of business with him and he helps us any way he can.

same here... one out of three places.. one place doesnt get my business because they weren't very friendly, they just told me duratrax was crap and tried to sell me a Losi truck, the other is over priced but helpful.. but the one i frequent the most are most helpful and very nice(family owned) and will order anything i may need. i bought my truck from them and will buy my next car from them aswell. been eyeballing a GS Storm they have there..

I just bought the Nitro Evader Buggy and I'm not sure if I'm too rough on these things or if it isnt very durable. From your reviews it seems to be very durable, but I broke the steering servo on my fourth tank and I just broke a front suspension arm today running inot a curb at barely above idle. I was just moving the buggy to the side of the street to get out of the way for a vehicle and maybe hit the curb at 2-3mph. After the car passed I came up and was shocked to see the broken part. It's possible that it was cracked the day before though as I did a few end over ends. Luckily that par is covered under warranty and they will replace it for free, however down time sucks. I wanted to get the XTM Xccellerator, but noticed this had most of the same features and was more readily available. Do they have steel suspension arms for these yet?

Don't know about metal parts, but buy a couple of the warranty parts to cover your down time (they are cheap enough). That's what I did. An end over can cause some serious damage. When mine hit the curb, it just popped the ball link off.

Well I took it out again last night and again broke something. I went through another 3 tanks and it ran great and seemed to be working well. I was running it on smooth pavement and was doing a lot of 180's then I did a few donuts and it just stopped. Turns out my differential is messed up. Not sure what yet, but I'm sure it's pretty well ruined. I'm getting ready to take it apart right now to try to see what happened. I do think I'm pretty hard on these cars, but I thought they would be able to take it. Especially an off-road buggy. I might snap some pics when I get it apart and see if you guys can help me diagnose.

Did you follow the instructions regarding the diff? They are pretty explicit about making an adjustment after so many tanks of fuel.

Default RE: Evader any good??

I actually went with two of my friends w/in a month ago and they both bought it. So far, it is a wonderful truck. The .18 has great power and delivers a very nice mid-range hit. It will run about 35-40 MPH also. It handles well, has great power delivery, and actually doesn't look THAT bad for an RTR, and has a battery and brain cover also. In my opinion, if I was buying a RTR GT (i bought one) or a RTR Evader, I would get the Evader. Now if I were getting the RTR GT Plus, I think I'd buy 5 of each if I was buying 10 trucks. Only thing is the GT might be a tad more durabule because it has proven itself over the years. Just my .02
