Default looking for exact engine that comes with my jato

i'm not sure which of those models that comes stock with my jato3.3
that works only with ez start ?

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...SM&C=GCT&V=TRA

my engine died now and i need to get to the stock engine that runs with ez start

I would just use the pull start that comes with it. The EZ-Start sucks on Traxxas vehicles and the pull start is wayy lighter. If your disshing out 150 on an engine I would at least get a bettter engine than the crappy 3.3.

i think that is a total matter of opinion. my 3.3 runs great w/ no tuning issues. that is a good mill for $150, or the os tz for about $40 more. i'm not going to bash the people who hate the 3.3, i just think they never took the time to learn how to tune one, because they are known to be touchy.

What I am saying is that if you got a good OS engine they are alot easier to tune, run alot cooler, and are extremely reliable. If you burnt up a OS engine you did something wrong. TRX engines just arent that reliable.

Ok a very valid point but there is something to be said about being able to just drop in the 3.3.... I understand the OS engines need extensive mods to fit the Jato...

Do yourself a favor and ignore Chris_RC. anything Traxxas is gonna suck if you ask him. The Easy start is alot of added weight and can be a pain to keep up with charged batteries etc. if you dont mind the added weight or the battery, it is not a bad system. There is nothing wrong with the 3.3. its not the best engine out there, but if you are just looking to bash around you will be fine.

What I am trying to say is that for the same price, you can get a better engine. I am unfamiliar on what engines fit the jato but there has to be more than just the TRX engines.

and once again iggnorance shows itself... anything other than a 3.3 but i dont know what... lol must need to keep his post count up.
u can run the os .21 with just a drop in.. the problem is it becomes so torquey... that u can't gear it high enough (gear, not available on the market unless u make ur own ... i can show u how....) alsio a red dot .12 will drop in, an axial .12, a picco p9 are all good canidates...

first of all if you want the same engine, then you shouldn't even be wasting your time researching it on the website. Do you still have all the papers and manuals that came with the Jato? Every Traxxas vehicle has a lifetime engine replacement plan. Your Jato should have come with a form to do that. What you do is send in your worn out engine into traxxas and they send you back a brand new one for around $100. The papers tell you everything or go to the traxxas website to get the information. Here is the link.

Well the .18 TM from OS will drop in and fits the EZ START system. I personally have never had an issue w/my TRX 3.3 and I have already put a gallon and a half of fuel through it w/no issues. I would say the TRX 3.3 is a good engine. Having used OS motors on my RC10GT abd currently running an OS .18 CV-R I would say they are easier to tune but the 3.3 is a great engine w/a little time and tuning it is a beast. I will include a pic of the OS .18 TM and the 3.3 on my JATO and the .18 on my RC10GT.

i think this may be money better spent, if you felt like forking out a little extra coinage for the turbo plugs it needs. and a starter box.
