Have you ever believed a companies dyno test for THEIR engines? Here is a quote from that dyno:
"A 2WD stadium truck was almost out of the question because the
front end would spend more time in the air than on the ground, or the tires would be
smoking endlessly."

No, I pretty much never put much stock in the companies own hp numbers. Which is why it was refreshing to find this independent review of the engine. They actually claim significantly more power than OS does [1.8hp] Or who knows... Perhaps Steve Pond is totally in OS's pocket and got some huge payoff to lie about that particular engine's dyno pull. In any case it is the best info I have seen for any engines of this type. Most of the people I talk to who use them have them in Revo's and say that it will throw the Revo around with huge authority despite the cars weight.
As far as the hilarious quote about a 2wd stadium truck, I actually bought one of these engines used from a guy who had it in an RC10GT. That actually is the very reason he was getting rid of it. It was pretty much uncontrollable as the rear wheels were either spinning for traction or the front wheels were off the ground. I imagine a better driver might be able to make more use of it, but who knows perhaps he was awesome. I figured I might have better luck with 4wd, despite my complete lack of skill

Actually if you look at the OS web site and check out the engine specs they do claim 1.8hp. They do say they managed 2.28 but who knows what set up they had or if it was a modified motor. They really don't specify. None the less it is one awesome motor.

well, for an xxx-nt, i think we could all agree that a .12 would be the best choice for any racing purpose. there's the [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJFY8&P=0]O.S. .12 tz(p) 3 port[/link], as well as the [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJFY9&P=0]5 port[/link] version that is a little faster. there's also the [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSNB8&P=0]picco Jrl[/link] which is only 179.99 and is a great motor.

I would not say that the TRX 3.3 is a crappy motor but it does have alot of draw backs. You have to retune it every few runs and it is prone to over heating. What I like about OS is that you tune it once and thats it. I have a .18 CV-R in my RC10GT. i also have a .15 for it. And I run a .21TM in my Jato. You cant go wrong with an OS. also the Picco is a great motor and both companies have smaller displacement motors that will out perform the TRX.

I think my hobby shop does the same. Except it is only for Traxxas motors, and I don't think it is 50% off, but you get some money off. Is this for any motor as a trade? Or only Traxxas? What hobby shop is this?
Mine is a Hobby Town USA. And I definitely cannot recommend a Traxxas motor over the OS .18TZ ... it is no comparison.

RE: fastest small block under 250$
The 3.3 will not hit 80 in a xxxnt and it is exremely difficult to hit 80 with the Jato. If you mess with the gearing and keep the 3.3 you will lose the bottom end punch. That's why a lot of poeple put in the OS .18TZ or .21TM or the RB 523TM which is a .23 size motor. You keep the bottom end punch with lower gearing and is much easier to obtain higher speeds. With that said the .18CVR does pop wheelies in my RC10GT and I got it up to about 50 mph. You want 80 plus the get the .18TZ and mess with the gearing.
