Default Engine question.

Looking into some .12 racing engines, but i'm having trouble. I want a rear exhaust, standard plug, rotary car .12. Easy, right?

Well the problem is, I need to find an engine that fits my driving ability, which is horrible I want an engine that has low to moderately power, nothing over the top. We run on a rough track that is dusty, so it leaves you searching for traction.

I was thinking dynamites platinum .12, rb .12 ( really like this one, but for some reason the rotary carb version of it is almost a hundred dollars more), os tz, the sts S12X3 (i also really like this one, im a sts faithful, but i'm afraid its too much engine for the track.).

Whelp, yeah so I'm in a predicament so I'm open to all suggestions.

I intend on throwing it in a gt2, possibly a ad2, but more than likely a gt2.

Thanks in advance

I'm speaking from just my own personal experience........ Dynamites are good engines, but my cousin had one and it blew within two weeks of him owning it, not sure if it was just a faulty engine or what, but luckily he was still able to get a new one under warranty...... I've never owned an rb or sts, but out of those two from what I've read up on the rb is the better choice (however rb engines are very expensive)........ I've owned nothing but OS engines (besides stock engines from ae and losi) and I love them........ They are very easy to tune and hold a their tune just great......... I don't think you can go wrong with any of the engines you've chosen, guess its just gonna come down to what you think is best for you..........

Here is a couple of good ones..

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPRL2&P=0

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHTN0&P=V ( this is the stock one)

The hard thing is finding a rotor carb and for a racing motor there going to be fast no matter what.

I think im gonna go for the sts, and if its too much power then i can buy another motor and save the sts for wider tracks or blue grooves when i travel.

thanks guys

DO NOT get the TG. For_The_Win, did you read the title? It says ABL construction= [:'(] ABL is cheap and doesnt last as long as ABC. In gas truck, you dont need the most powerful engine. Just one with a smooth powerband. Get a cheap engine like the Dynamite .12spd or Dynamite .12 Platinum which has more power and spend the rest on tires. Oh ya, get the AD2!

yeah the tg is abl, which is horrible. abc from os is getting uncomfortably rare.

well said, well everything except the ad2 part :P

but for anyone reading this thread who is new to racing, engine SPEED is about the last thing you worry about, its 60% driver skill, 35% set up (suspension & tires), 4% radio equipment (servos mainly), and 1% engine.

Where do you get the repleacement piston and sleeves at? I was looking at the Dynamite Platimum but i cant find a new piston and sleeve for it. Unless there is another brand that makes one.
