Default Trinity Picco .12

Ijust picked up a Trinity Picco .12 engine from the RCUclassifieds. I should be receiving in a few days. Ihave been looking for some specs on the motor and Ican't seem to be able to find any. I'm interested mainly in the rpm capability of the motor. If any body can find some info for me and post a link for me that would be great. Iam going to be putting the engine in my RC10GT since the .18TZ isn't race legal. so I'm going to be needing to get a exhaust manifold for it as well. But if if anybody knows of a site that has some info on the engine Iwould greatly apreciate it. here are some pics of it from the ad.

Thanks

Heres their website, you can try to call them up and ask what the ratings are:

I have 3 of these engines now and they RIP!! The one you have here has the "picco" exhaust. You will need a special header. These are very good engines and have LOTS of revs. An excellent choice for the GT, it already has the crank cut.

I haven't got it yet it should be here in the next day or two. I am curious to see how it runs I have an OS 18 TZ in it now so I'm curious to see how it compares. do you know what the high rpm is on it? what header pipe are you running?
Thanks

I don't know for sure, but I would say they can rev to almost 40,000. Gotta love that Italian engineering!! The ones that I have have got the standard exhaust. I did some looking and couldn't find the header that you need right off the bat. The best bet for finding that header would be to post in the "want to buy " forum, or check E-bay. I doubt if you can find a new one, that form of exhaust has not been made for many years. This engine is probably about 10 years old or so (just guessing). I have been able to find mine and the parts I have needed on E-bay, in fact I just bought another one, here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=370216040553

Yakfish, did you get it yet? have you tried to install it? LMK

The problem with the "picco" exhaust is that it is rotated 90 degrees from what a typical rear exhaust is. So you will need a header that has some different bends in it. Or perhaps a header that you could bend yourself.

I got mine in the mail yest. In good shape but I will be getting the sleeve and piston "pinched" before I try running it.

Basketcase,
I just got it last night. some how it got shipped to my parents house (I'll have to check the paypal adress I have listed) so I had to wait a copuple days to get it from them. I haven't tried installing it yet as I haven't found a header for it yet. if I can't find one I am going to try rigging up a couple exhaust deflectors with some metal tubing and zipties to make my own. the picco exhaust hole is quite a bit smaller that the exhaust hole on the TZ that I have in now. I was going to just use the header I had and just run the exhaust of the side to see how the picco runs but the hole is too small.

You would happen to know what the stock carb settings for it are would you?

I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

Well I just mounted it up in my RC10GT. I did manage to make my own header using an exhaust deflector from my savage and an old associated manifold I had laying around that I took the hacksaw to so I could use the ben in it. Primed it and it started right up on the 4th pull. does it ever idle smooth! I'm have ing an issue with my fly wheel though. the crank shaft is just a bit smaller than the shaft from my TZ so I couldn't get the flywheel quite tight enough. it will spin the wheels if they are of the ground but if the car is sitting on the ground it will just barely move forward. I'll need to check and see if there is a different collet to go on the crank between the crank and the fly wheel. I am impressed with how easily and smooth it idled though. I have never heard an egine so smooth!![8D]

EXCELLENT!! Necessity is the mother of invention. That looks like it will work! Now keep in mind this engine is about 10 years old or so, it will not have the power that a .18TZ has, however, if you gear it so you can utilize the power band efficiently, you can be competitive. This engine has LOTS of revs, and loves to SCREAM. Have a BLAST! Mark

that header may melt, as it looks to be rubber.
