Default Nitro Rustler from 1997'ish

I have Nitro Rustler from 1997-8 Ibelieve. I was 12 and I stripped the cooling head or engine threads where the glowplug goes. How do Ireplace this? Do they even make parts for it anymore? Can Iswap in a newer bigger engine without changing anything? Or should I just buy a new truck?

Thanks!

You would need to replace the cylinder head. Lots of used ones available. eBay will have them, and Tower carries the replacement part. Traxxas part no. 4032.

I recently got back into rc and used to have a rustler in 1998. I got a Jato and a Hyper7 and then decided to put some cash into getting the rustler up and running again, I got a new trx .15 and I can honestly say that if I could go back in time I would get a new truck instead of investing more money into that one. I have put about 350$ into it and it runs fine now (ended up ditching the new trx .15 and got a different engine and got it to fit after some heavy modification) but it breaks a lot because the plastic is old and some parts are weak etc... so most of the 350$ is parts I didnt plan on changing because I thought they were ok and of course 2 engines, but both were cheap, about 100$ each,
Forget it man, get a new truck!

I have had a complete opposite experience. The Rustler's I used to own were great, especially when I put an O.S. in one. Heck, those were the early trucks too, with the bronze aluminum and old-style parts. I eventually sold them just because I have too much stuff sitting around.
