Decided on an x-cellerator

I did some reaserch and am leaning towards the xtm x-cellerator st. The reviews look very good. And at under 300 bucks, it sounds like a great steal. in your opinions, will it be able to hang while racing? Any upgrades that you have done to it also. Thank all

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

Well before you want to race, ditch the rear tires. i never liked them when i tested this truck. Head for the proline bowties or the SWITCH from Panther tire.

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

i hear that it is impossible to find any hop ups for the truck yet, and very hard to find replacements. the x-c is not a racing truck, and even with a good .12 i doubt it would keep up with gt's and nt's.

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

xtm is coming out with hops ups very soon for it

More erroneous information by the uninformed. http://www.hobbypeople.net/ has all the parts you need. And yes XTM is very close to releasing hop-ups for the X-cell

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

What makes you think it cant be raced ericheller? You state untrue facts. A quote from Rcca magazine review " For any off-road nitro-power fan, particularly those with racing aspirations" " fast tough and raceable* both of those quotes from rcca review. Hey eric maybe you havent even read the review. Well why dont you take a look. http://www.hobbypeople.net/review/145610rcca.htm

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

i think what eric really emant is its not really a known racer....gt's and nt's always take races and the x-c is more of teh open class winner...if that at all....the .18 size engine mayeb be good for speed but thats why they really claim there truck is so good...it has speed cuz it has a bigger engine than the rest.....if you want to race go with a gt or nt where teh hop ups are already out and you have so many different things you can buy....and if xtm still ahsnt made hop ups you dont knwo how long it will be

No that is not what he meant.

He said it wasnt a good racer and he has no idea if it is or not. ANd the engine size doesnt really matter either. The savage 25 is slower than the tmaxx. That should tell you something. ANd also please next time use spell check. I had a little trouble reading your post.

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

Ok Mxracer45, that is right,

"the x-c is not a racing truck, and even with a good .12 i doubt it would keep up with gt's and nt's." is the dumbest thing I have heard(addressed to ericheller ). Today's 12s crank out more horsepower and rpm over the 15s and 18s buddy! And you say it might not keep up... excuse me... you DOUBT it will keep up? There are many hopups coming out, and gearing is what matters on the tracks for speed if you are conserned in that category.

This page says it all... to the uninformed like ericheller: [link=http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/145610.asp]X-Cellerator[/link]

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

well where are the race results with the x-c in first? dont say its too new and unknown because its been out for some time now and just about everyone that knows what a st is knows about the x-c. i have yet to hear about anyone winning a race with one, or even racing it. my comment about it not keeping up to other trucks was because i just dont think it would handle well enough. xtm built it to be a strictly bashing truck, and not to race, so you wouldnt think it would handle well. but i have never driven one, so i may be mistaken.

maybe completely stock on a street, but my truck would kill a stock x-c, on a track and on a street. i really am bummed out by those articles you posted, they keep saying how the truck was built to race and all of that. if they were ment to race they would come as a kit,and not have a .18 engine. the one says how its such a great racing truck, then says how the .18 will beat a .12. i think they are refering to drag racing or something.

sled- they may race but in what races? they might race the their local tracks, but i doubt any big races, or atleast even close to the a-mains.

does the x-c come as a rolling chassis? i wanna play with one............................................... ............[&:]

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

*** Yall r making me post now. I dont wanna post because for sum odd reason u will get mad and you always do. The x-c comes rtr and there is also the x-c racer kit with better upgrades and such but with out the engine and radio. Also with proline tires. Got this from the global forum.

ok finially got the X-c with some track time. i packed up about 10 pairs of assorted tires, starter box, gallon of gas tools and a few other things. get there and the track looks a little rough from the recent rains. i go ahead and run with the losi step pins i had on, the rear end was all over the place! it was almost uncontrollable and kinda emberrasing. next i toss those and throw on some proline lugs. we also watered the track to pack some of the dirt on the surface. this was the ticket! the truck hooked up and handled better then i was ever able to get my NT to. doubles, table top, you name it and the truck took everything i threw at it. i was able to carry alot of speed through the corners and still have excellent control, the brakes showed no signs of fading even lap after lap off the loong straight. many 8th scale buggies were out and i was able to prety much hang with them , loosing only a second or so every lap. everyone one there was very impressed with the handling of the truck, i reviever many positive comments and "what kinda truck is that" questions. the suspension really had its work out considering this is a true 8th scale track and they let it get pretty bumpy. i was able to make it 6 sometimes even 7 minutes without a single mistake. i am sure with more turning i could be very very competitive. people were also asking if i was going to race tomorrow, i wish i was but i have to work. also durability was great! the only thing that broke was my throttle servo, i overshot a jump and the chasis bottomed out and the servo just stopped working. got a futaba for 13 bucks in the hobby shop and didnt have another problem. i had many high speed cartwheels, a few bumps into the wall and alot of flips. i think in all i ran over 10 tanks. not a bend tie tod or even a stripped screw anywhere! i was extremely pleased with the performance. this truck felt like an extension of me and it went where i pointed it and ran perfectly all day long. i swear i dont know how some of yall stip spurs, even after landing many times full throttle ( to keep the nose up) off the large triple i still cant see any wear and tear on the spur. another thing to address is the gearing, we could def use lower gearing. i was able to make the jumps, and it accelerated well, but 1 or 2 teeth lower would def help. i wouldnt say it is a must have, but just something to help. i think that would be the finial peice of the puzzle for this budget racer. please post with any questions. if interested i can go over my baseline set up. the track was slightly loamy/sandy.

I liek to post here in the st thread i would just like a little more respect instead of things getting thrown back in my face. I say the x-c is good. I know.

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

Quit bashing the truck!!! It is meant for beginner drivers, and I have seen them at my track, thats right, ER SPEEDWAY, finishing well in the B-Mains... and I dono what you talkin about LOSI being so great... ok they are but they need better drivers that own them. As driver's skill increases, so will the potential! If you feel the 18 is sluggish, of which it ain't, you can gear it to accelerate faster of course.

---maybe completely stock on a street, but my truck would kill a stock x-c, on a track and on a street. i really am bummed out by those articles you posted, they keep saying how the truck was built to race and all of that. if they were ment to race they would come as a kit,and not have a .18 engine. the one says how its such a great racing truck, then says how the .18 will beat a .12. i think they are refering to drag racing or something. ---
The engines that come in RTR stadiums are the same as the other RTR st's. These days in R/C, noobs are so hard on with engine size... when little do they know that a .12 can smoke it. But I do have to hand it to XTM for the .18 that comes with it. I now have a .18 class at my track, and more X-C are showing instead of Evader trucks... the turn for the better has started!

Ahh sweet didnt realize this. The xcell racer kit comes with optional gearing. Front Sway Bar Assembly
Rear Sway Bar Assembly
47T Spur Gear
46T Spur Gear (Installed)
15T Clutch Bell
16T Clutch Bell
17T Clutch Bell
1 Degree Rear Suspension Mount (Installed)
2 Degree Rear Suspension Mount
4 Degree Rear Suspension Mount

Just some things ther that the normal x-c doesnt have. ALso the racer kit has a different chassis. Every single replacement part for the x-c is at hobbypeople.

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

See thats my point, you can get a stellar 12 for the XC and it will end up spending around $330 for a great great great racer (with good radio). You don't need to ditch the rears on that model... I wish more peeps got into the rolling chassis and not the duratrax's these days. You pay more to win more...

RE: Decided on an x-cellerator

$139 That's a sweet price [sm=surprised.gif]

But for hardcore bashing I'm a little unsure. I hope to see more aluminum part's available soon.
