Engine Cough?
Ok, i have my little CV-RX OS .15 max engine (the $90 one on tower) and i went and decided to drive my truck today. It started up ok, and when i hit the gas the muffler didnt sound right, it wasnt as loud as usual and sounded clogged. So i hit the throttle and half throttle it shutted off. I went inside and cleaned out the pipe and alot of nitro came out.
I went back outside and put the pipe on and started it up again. this time it was a little louder but still moved slow and didnt seem right. I tried to lean it, nothing happened, i tried richining it, nothing happened. Help Im confused. [:o] |

RE: Engine Cough?
Ok now that thats done (sorry fumes all day im in a funky mood) anyone know why my engine is like dying?
|
RE: Engine Cough?
I was gonna say... You got a he!! of a deal!:) I was trying to figure some way to pry some cash from the wife.
Just going on you description I would guess you may have lost some compression. That will usually change the exhaust note a little. Other than that I would imagine you already checked the drive line to make sure everything was cool. How much fuel have you run through this one? You know that your not the easiest person on their equipment;) |
RE: Engine Cough?
i have only ran about a little more then half a tank of blue thunder 20%...i have been richining it better then what u usually do to engines...[:-]
|
RE: Engine Cough?
Get a new air filter foam, new oil.
next if that dont work, I would take the motor out, take it apart and spray the inside w/ electric motor spray and clean out all that gunk that blue thunder puts in the motor. I know cause traxxas fuel does that same thing. Then try it out. |
RE: Engine Cough?
i was taking apart my engine like you siad and when i took off the head, the piston sleeve was attached to it...[sm=confused.gif] i notice there are holes on it, shoul the holes be facing toawrds the exit of the engine? [:-]
|
RE: Engine Cough?
OOPS!
i found out i had my piston sleeve on wrong(shut up im a newb when it comes to engines). The instructions said to live up the holes from the piston sleeve to the holes in the engine...now its fixed. lol im a newb. |
RE: Engine Cough?
That's cool, You didn't say that you had the engine apart before it started running bad.
|
RE: Engine Cough?
i dunno how the sleeve moved, its hard eough trying to put it back in...[:-]
|
RE: Engine Cough?
isnt there a guide pin on the block and a little notch on the sleeve that assures an accurate line up. and those holes in the sleeve are called ports.

RE: Engine Cough?
