put some paper towel in the bottom of battery box water and crud gets in there the towel soaks it up and it keeps the battery's in place not hitting up and down in the case.

Is you exhaust pipe always falling off? *shows some cheesy over-acted example of someone trying to put on a hot exhaust pipe, with difficulty*like seen in oven mitt commercials. Well I have the solution... metal wire coat hangers. Just get some cutters and some pliers. Find a spot on your chassis that the brace could bolt onto, then fabricate away.( note: this only works with pipes that have a threaded slot.)
This is circled in red

And you can make your own reciever box out of an old plastic BB/pellet container.
Circled in blue.

God I love to ghetto rig my car with cheap mods...

If your flywheel comes loose but the clutch nut is still tight, rather than spending money on a crankshaft locking tool just fill the cylinder with afterrun oil and screw in an old glow plug. The oil doesn't compress and there is no surface to surface contact that can cause damage.

I dont know if you guys do this with your body clips? All my mates do it but i just thought i would mention it cus it makes it dead easy to take body clips off

brownstone101 03-05-2005 01:08 PM

RE: OFFICAL TIPS AND TRICKS THREAD

thats a good idea im going to take string tie it to the 2 body clips then screw or glue the string to the body then if it falls off you still have it:D

Well, this is aimed at the GT but may apply to others.

If you have dogbones and get sick of them throwing out those crappy little red o-rings, get pvc washers like are used in water hoses. Use a hobby knife to cut off a small piece of the tree that the washers come on and use it in place of the o-ring. Just trim it so that your dogbones have the right spacing. It's large enough that it can't be thrown out of the outdrive/axle, so problem solved.

Or... you could just get CVDs ;)

Or you could just cut a piece of fuel line and slip it in the drive cups...mine was in there for 2 years till the cups wore out...then I went to the CVD's.

I had an idea to make a single body clip that is big enough to fit in both parts, so ill have 1 for the front and 1 for the back and they'll be easier to take off. Basicly it could be sumthing like this...

Well heres a few from this months towerhobbies "helpful hints"
Clean Bearing:
To clean your ball bearings on your car, put them in a plastic 35mm film canister and spray WD-40 in with them. Shake them until clean, then relube them to prevent rusting.
-Colton -----

Saving Glow plugs:
If you'r constantly killing your glow plugs with over-powered racing engines, a good method to avoid it, is to simply add another copper spacer underneath the plug. That has helped me and my friends and it has saved us a lot of money.
-Rando ----

The others Either were not related to Trucks/cars, I was unsure if it was a good idea, or did not feel would be worth my time to type.
I also took out the last names for the confidentiality of their privacy.

RE: OFFICAL TIPS AND TRICKS THREAD

Hey brownstone.. can u take a pic of how much u had the slipper tightened when it stripped the gear? ..so i can get an idea on if mine is too tight or not.

Also here's a question for everyone that would be a GREAT tip to me if it can be answered. How the HECK can you easily install a glow plug? Friggin annoying! I try usin that delux tool wrench.. but the stupid plug either drops out.. or the copper gasket does. Takes me forever to install the stupid thing.

RE: OFFICAL TIPS AND TRICKS THREAD

Easy turn your car sideways when you put it in.

Ok my tip for MT2's (or most other cars)......take the crappy piece of fuel line off your brake and swap it for a piece of solid plastic. It brakes so hard it makes my front dif slip but i have taken it apart and it isnt doing any damage so far. Really guys the difference is amazing if you are on dirt or gravel it will lock up from WOT and stay locked up all the way to a standstill.

brownstone101 03-07-2005 09:25 PM

RE: OFFICAL TIPS AND TRICKS THREAD

how should the gear mesh be i need pic of ppls gere mesh

Skullbasher 03-08-2005 08:43 PM

RE: OFFICAL TIPS AND TRICKS THREAD

Adjusting gear mesh:
Loosen the four adjustable motor mount screws. Then take a small, semi-long strip of paper. Place the piece of paper between the spur gear and the clutch bell. Set gear mesh tightly, then tighten down the motor mounts. Then just turn the spur gear to remove the paper.

brownstone101 03-08-2005 09:10 PM

RE: OFFICAL TIPS AND TRICKS THREAD

any pece of paper or specal paper printer paper????? because i striped my sper gear but there was enuff of the tooth to use agen by tightening the gear mesh all the way:eek:
