SCREW NITRO!! I HATE IT!

DUDE, SCREW NITRO! I HATE IT! IT TOOK ME 2 MONTHS TO EVEN GET MY CAR STARTED. THEN IT TOOK ME ANOHTER MONTH JUST TO BE ABLE TO RUNN IT. THEN WHEN TODAY WHEN I GET THE CAR STARTED, AFTER I MOVED 3 FEET, THE CAR WENT CRAZY ADN DROVE AWAY. I CHASSED AFTER IT AND THEN I TRIPPED. I DROPED MY TX 10 FEET AWAY SCRATCHIGN THE HELL OUT OF IT. MY CAR GOT ITS LOWER CAHSIS SCREWED UP, SHOCK CAP MEESSED UP AND BUMPER IS SCREWED. FRONT BULKHEAD IS CRAPI SPENT OVER 300 ON NITRO CARS AND IT GOT SCREWED UP. THERE ARE NO REASONS WHY IT DIDNT WORK. I CHARGED UP THE BATTERY THE NIGHT BEFORE. SHOULD I QUIT NITRO AND MOVE TO ELECTRIC? IM NOT SURE IM A NITRO GUY.

you just had a bad day. Buy a failsafe and a throttle return spring. Before you run your car check over everything including your radio system. It may take more time but you have found out abot hassles. This is also let you know the condition of your truck. Also every time before you run check over all the screws and put loctite on all metal to metal fasteners. Also sometimes put a drop of CA on screws that wont want to stay in and put a dab of shor-goo over hinge pin E-clips of keep them in place.

Nitro truck are alot of work. there is no getting around that. But if you stay on top of the things I mentioned to you you should have no trouble with malfunctions sir. Also if you are having alot of trouble tuning go to the local hobby shop and have them show you the ropes of your truck. Also keep the same fuel and nitro content. If you change fuel often your carb will always be out of whack. Get one fuel and use that as long as it works well.

Now whats your age? If you are under 16 many people reccomend not to start nitro until that age. I cant blame them. Most kids under 16 dont understand enough about their cars and just get mad and give up. If this is the case sell your truck or just clean it up, put after run oil in the engine-take the springs off the shocks, put vaseline on the shock seals and rubber peices and let it sit until you are a little older and feel more competent to run your truck.

Good leave nitro and go to: bad batterycells, burnt-up speed controllers, charge times, 50 bucks a battery pack dont forget to get 3 so you dont have to wait, and those only last so long before thier junk. Not to mention slower speeds, and much less cooler:D.

The grass isnt always greener on the other side. You can crash a elec. just as easy as a gas.

Good luck to ya though, but Id give nitro another shot. Ive had both and electric doesnt do it for me anymore. I guess I was around your age when I was running elec. Go for it man maybe you'll like it. I hope you know how to soilder!(spelling?)

RE: SCREW NITRO!! I HATE IT!

well thats the thing, im not exactly rich, electric is cheaper, besides i saw some 3600mah (nimh) for 25 each. escs dotn burn up unless u put to many volts through it

RE: SCREW NITRO!! I HATE IT!

Only jumping in here for a spelling lesson since you guys are looking up things. The word you are looking for is SOLDER. When performing a function with solder, it is SOLDERING. Soder is a completely incorrect spelling of SOLDER and if you look it up, it directs you to SOLDER instead.

Not being rude, just trying to helpful today. :D

I know exactly where you're coming from but I'll never go back to electric. Planes and boats maybe but cars? No way. The biggest help that anyone can get when getting into nitro is to have a friend who knows what they're doing to show you the ropes. If you're starting nitro and you're on your own you are going to have a rougher time of it. But don't give up. Just keep in mind that EVERYONE who runs nitro was where you are right now...at some point.

Start from the beginning again and set your car back to factory specs. Ask as many questions as you need and don't worry about lookign stupid by asking such a basic question. We all have experience and are more than willing to help.

What car and engine are you running? What fuel? Give us as much detail as you can and I'm sure that you can be running and HAVING FUN this weekend.

yeah sorry I had a typo :P I know its solder I just suck at typing anyway yeah you should see the many scraps of electric cars I have laying around by the way electric is just as expensive its just devious that way...
and maybe if your car is listed underneath you in your sig your not ready for THAT nitro engine .18 Sirio a .15 that comes with the N rustler is probably plenty for you

RE: SCREW NITRO!! I HATE IT!

what kinda truck you got? i might be interested...have a carbon fiber HPI RS4 Pro roller chassis, with 2 radios, 2 bodies, 2 servoes, 2 motors, an ESC and transmitter...let me know the details of your truck and how much damage is done because i have a rustler myself but its in the process of becoming a show/shelf truck, and wouldnt mind another rustler to bash around with

Everyone has probs with there first car.. I toasted my XXX-NT's engine.. Won't run anymore because I hydrolocked it.. hehe And it's been broken a lot. You won't get much for your car. I'd just keep it and run it. Maybe your bats weren't charged up enough and that's why you lost it? Then once you get this one figured out you can get something tougher and more expensive!

electric is cheaper
Whoa, you might want to re-examine that one. I had 900 bucks in my E-Pede before I could consider it anything to brag about in the speed department. I have 200 bucks in my N-Pede and it is way more fun, and gets way more attention. Not to mention the MUCH longer runtimes.

In electric, you start off with a truck that is quite a bit cheaper than a nitro. You then decide buy a faster motor but... oh man, your ESC won't handle that many turns, so you got to spend around 60+ bucks on a nice one with a decent turn limit. Wow, you're really going fast now, and so are your batteries, cause you're getting 5 minutes run time for a 30 minute charge, not what would be considered efficient. So, you spend 100 bucks on a couple of the latest high tech batteries to give you longer run times, but oh no... you're cheap timer charger doesn't cut it anymore. Off you go, spending over 80 bucks on a capable charger. No you are doing good and running longer, but oh no... your brushes are worn out. Do you see how you can go on and on with this??

Nitro is hard for newbies, and will be hard until you get used to it. Now that I have been into the nitro game for a long time, I can run nitro's even more reliably, and for longer periods of time than electrics.

Nitro's require more patience, but as soon as you get used to it, and learn to trust it, as well as be more picky about maintenance, you will experience reliable runs. I have an O.S. CV-X .12 that starts on the first three pulls or less everytime, even when it is hot and idles all day. Just get some experience on your belt and get some quality equipment, and you will almost never run into problems.

XDD-

excellent post. Couldnt of set it better myself![sm=thumbup.gif]

Also did you ever buy a new engine for your Evader? did ya get a dynamite .12 SPD?

Gonna go with what GT-Power said, get yourself a failsafe! I can't tell you how many times my Duratrax micro-failsafe saved my butt... Stay with nitro, we'd hate to see you switch over to "the dark side" lol :)

nitro is soo much more frustrating [:@][:@]!! dude, i had a mini-t and i would bash that thing like crazy!! but w/ nitor, im scared to death cuz if i crash it, that thing would cost me like 50 bux. not to mention the constant mantience. The nitro has batterie packs, have to tune, have to break in, have to make sure no loose screws, failsafe, spring (like failsafe), runafter, cleaning (takes me 15 minutes alone) and so on and so on. Maybe i should quite rc in general. [&o][&o]

I wouldn't go that far, but taking a little break may be a good thing. I got tired of R/C for a while, and left for about 6 months. Then with summer coming up, the interest sparked again.

GT-Power, I actually sold my N-Evader. It was a nice truck, but wasn't quite what I was looking for. I ended up gettin a Nitro Stampede with a .12 CV-X and like it much better. The N-Evader has more power than it could get to the ground, and while wheelspins are cool, they can get old quick. I like how the N-Pede wheelies. This thing is a lot like the E-Pede, but better in my opinion. It doesn't need as many mods off the bat to be truly awesome like the E-Pede does.

I will never buy a non- O.S. engine now, though. This .12 CV-X is the best thing I have ever run. Not the wildest power output, but still plenty, and my favorite thing is the reliability. This is the best basher engine I have ever seen, much less owned. It will ran all day, tank after tank, and has more than enough power for the N-Pede.;)

the thing is you got a rustler. hahaha its traxxas. no im kidding. i was going to get one but didnt. if you think electric is better then go for it. dont keep telling people that are trying to help you something good about electric. you should have thought abuot the money problem before buying a nitro. yes nitro are definately fun but with the cost of about 100 dollars every couple of months or so

RE: SCREW NITRO!! I HATE IT!

Sooooo... how much u gonna sell the rustler for then?? Make me a deal.
