Quick starter box question

Hey, due to the fact that this is my first time really using a starter box...I wanted to ask if you need to prime the engine while using a stater box or if the starter takes care of getting the fuel to the carb. Thanks guys.

If it matters, it's a brand new engine...never has been touched except for installation.

Hi

As far as I know you do not have to prime the engine when you use a starter box. Once in a while you might have to if the engine is being a little stubborn and wont start, and if that happens all you have to do is plug the stinger of the exhaust pipe for a second or two.

Well, it's not so much the starter box but the engine it's self. The engine will draw fuel in but if the engine is brand new and you are going to break it in, you might want to manually prime the fuel to the carb or put a few drops of after run oil down the plug hole to help lubricate the piston and sleeve before the fuel gets there.

Yeah I would definately prime the engine when using it on a new engine. Just cover the exhaust pipe and you should be fine. It also helps it start quicker then just sitting there not primming it. With most engines there is sufficent vacum from the engine is help draw the fuel in but it does take a little while for it to get up there.

Thanks guys, yea, of course I'm going to break it in...I've just only had pullstarts/roto starts before...

Thanks again guys, and by the way, I've already put some AR oil in it...and more will be put in there ;)
