RE: Hpi Firestorm

Agreed, 1/8th scale offroad is a bit challenging, I did race them at one time. I was mearly pointing out gear diffs are more widely used in nitro, especially high power applications. Nowadays you really dont hear much about gear diff failures, but still the occasional ball diff meltdown after a 30min main, and frequent rebuilds, Imagine 3 ball diffs in a 1/8th scale buggy......yuck!
I just want people to see both sides of the coin concerning diffs, after all look at what electric onroad is doing with them.....gear diffs, ball diffs, One-way diffs, and locked diffs, and in any combination to tune to the track!
Point is I seriously doubt a gear, or ball diff for that matter will add 1/10ths to your lap times offroad, to do that you'd have to be hitting the same exact lines, jump the same every lap, and the track holding up during long mains. I had a chance to run my Firestrom again today, and I'm seriously convinced it handles as well ,if not better than my old GT did 2 yrs ago.......
