RE: Hpi Firestorm
too late already bought a losi :). looks like a nice truck though first thing I would change is that top deck drop in a carbon fiber or plastic one prob loose 10 oz or more wieght.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
looks sweet! if the price is right, I'll take the bite.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
I hope the new engine is better then the last two small blocks they made the 15 FE and T15. All so hope it is better then the 18SS. I like HPI a lot as I have 4 of their vehicles but do not like most of their small blocks. Wish I could see more on how the steering is set up. I sure do not like the way it is on my Rush!
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
i must agree with you there 46u hpi's small block engines are pants. thats why im getting a LRP Z.18S Pro in a couple of weeks:) cant wait!
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
378.99 that is what tower hobbies will sell the firestorm for
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
You cannot go by the price they have on Towers now and I would think it will end up being all most $100 cheaper when in stock.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
i like it. I hope its not a noobmobile though.. thats what they seem to be targeting it towards..
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
I was looking it up and dam it looks really really nice..................but HPI IS EATING CRAP............................they still havent put a 2speed on it......................i thought this thing was goin to be a jato killer.........................this thing probably wont even keep up...............it looks like a RC10GT mixed with a JATO.....................im not geting it but it looks REALLY NICE when the body's hit ebay ill get one for my RUSH EVO this thing looks like its goin to have the GT's and XXX's running scared
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
looks pretty good for rtr version... I will be looking to see what they do with a SS version. That would peak my intrest...
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
An SS version would be great, maybe they could put in some aluminum shocks and dish wheels. Maybe don't include an engine, and then that might appeal to me. I want to race but I only go a crappy traxxas Nitro Sport. I would decide between this and the RC 10GT2 for my next truck.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
That body looks sweet.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
when it releases im buying it. that and the wheely king. i cant keep up with HPI's new cars man.
I personally like the 18SS engine. low end isnt the greatest but on top end this suckers gets my MT2 and my RS4 going. maybe this is like the HO version of the 18SS or something. something about this truck just dragged me in and i just really want it, i cant explain it. |
RE: Hpi Firestorm
btw, take a look at the option parts page. HPI has alot lined up for this truck. looks like they will be getting serious with this "racing" thing.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
They never did make a Rush in a kit so I would not be surprised if the do not make the Firestorm in a kit. Would be nice but after running all the 4 wheel drive trucks I have do not think I will get another 2 wheel drive. I have the Rush and hardly run it because 4 wheel drive handles SO much better.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
It's a 1:10 truck right?
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
its a 1/10 race spec 2wd truck. well its RTR but its a base for a race truck. they will make a kit for this truck, this is like the Hellfire's little brother.
personally, im waiting for HPI to make a 1/8 buggy. that would be cool. |
RE: Hpi Firestorm
all i know is when that body hits ebay and the tires.................IMA GET THEM LOLOL i wonder if any parts for this car are compatable with the rush............if any te gear box looks pretty much the same LORD KNOW WHAT SUPRISE IS INSIDE
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
A Savage truggy or buggy :D:)
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
It doesn't look like it would be hard for them to make a 2 speed for it.
Firestorms cb and spur http://www.hpieurope.com/graphics/ki...upclose/06.jpg The super nitro rally 2 speed http://hpiracing.com/graphics/instr/a910p2.jpg |
RE: Hpi Firestorm
The reason why they do not put 2-speeds like that on Off-Road vehicles is because debris always gets stuck in between the gears, sredding them. This happens very often even on the On-Road cars, and is also the reason why the Savage's 2-speed gears are enclosed in a transmission case. The make a 2-speed kit for the MT2, but they do not recommend it for off-road use because of this problem.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
its built to race, not try and beat traxxas in a top speed pissing match, which i personally believe is stupid.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
To each his own ya know? If it were truly meant to be raced they would have it in kit form wouldn't they? I agree with you though. I'm an off-road guy and don't see much fun in going in a straight line on level ground. I ran an RS4 Evo 2 speed in my MT1 for some time then swapped back over to an MT2 slipper setup. I punished the 2 speed in that truck and it took it surprisingly. I was scared that it would explode since it didn't have a slipper. That is why I took it out.
ORIGINAL: dracy69 its built to race, not try and beat traxxas in a top speed pissing match, which i personally believe is stupid. |
RE: Hpi Firestorm
look at the Hellfire.......
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
yeh i've seen it. my bro has an xtm mammoth st. I like how snappy my MT1 is though. I'll probably move up to a truggy sometime though.
what are you running? |
RE: Hpi Firestorm
KIT KIT KIT.
Then I'll think about another ST. They should've realeased it earlier for X-Mas. |
RE: Hpi Firestorm
I was looking at my racer 2 yesturday and thinking dam i wonder if i can put that 2speed on my rush evo..........it might actually work depending on a few minor details.................that fire strom does looks great but come on TRAXXAS raised the bar with the jato and this is what HPI CAME OUT WITH??? i think its kinda depressing if you ask me..............yea it might be a great track racer the suspsention makes it seem that way but when you think about RACEING does HPI really pop into peoples heads???? NO..........now u can see they have evolved and made better TRACK cars........but HPI like TRAXXAS will always be know for BEGINNERS cars for the most part .......................hopefully this thing will be a hit and not a flop like the RUSH EVO!!!!
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
HPI is trying to change their image.
once again, look at the Hellfire, race truck, released in RTR. then they made an SS. I give HPI credit for even making kits unlike Traxxas. and none of you know how fast or how powerful this truck is so how can you complain? |
RE: Hpi Firestorm
1+ it looks like HPI is going to get serious in to off road raceing. let the truck come out before you bash on it!
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
lololololol OK but u see what i mean right?????LOL i see HPI geting into raceing and this is probably goin to be a GOOD TRUCK lets see................ i wonder who will be the first on RCU to get one?????
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
mines been ordered since the 3 of december.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
Off road track I do believe the Firestorm will put the Jato to shame now on road straight line yes the Jato will be on top. I know some buy off road vehicles to run on road but I am one of those if I am going to run on road I want and on road vehicle. HPI made the Firestorm where you can change the engine and be legal with most if not all race Sanctions. Now I have raced against a few Jato on a off road track and I sure was not impressed with the Jato what so ever.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
i know mn.nitro series runs the standard rules and any rtr vehicle with the stock motor is legal, so that should be a big bonus
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
I still like my JATO 3.3 better ! :D
And properly set up and with a little throttle control the JATO can be fast off road too ... I also have not been impressed with the HPI motors ..... the .15 in my RS4 RTR 3 is pretty weak .... But this truck looks like a nice machine ..... |

|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
i am thinking to install an a "R/C truck Rental" and this truck look nice, very good price, good price part's, good radio, easy to clean and mantain, good engine and nice fits...
please post your opinions thk's |
RE: Hpi Firestorm
in the vidoe it pulled wheelies, but at the start i think you can see scoop wheels.
it looks realy nice i wanna trade in my rush[&o] |
RE: Hpi Firestorm
get one of these i just seen a video and they are fast for stock.
|
RE: Hpi Firestorm
I have had the firestorm since christmas and it is an awesome truck........i have been into rc cars and trucks since 1982 so i have some experience with many different vehicles.....this is a great truck for the track......but as far as usin it like a savage it want hold up........nor was it designed for that........but what it is very fast and nimble......hard to flip over due to low center of gravity...........a dream to work on compared to savage............now for the downside........the front bulkhead broke right down the center from side impact.........it is made of very thin nylon/plastic............definitely could use aftermarket there...........other than that an awesome truck.........no parts available yet anywhere so have to wait........but that is the price u pay for 1st out.................but give it 9/10 stars..........will buy another in 2-3months for my son......
