Question about starter box and GT2 FT issues...
I have the Factory Team GT2 with O.S. TZ and the Team Associated FT Starter Box. I am not new to RC by any means, I also have a 777 with Ofna Starter Box. I can't figure out for the life of me why I have such a hard time lining up the starter box's wheel with the flywheel opening in the chassis. I followed the directions on Associated's website to a T on where to line up the pegs. The problem is I think the motor is underpowered or something because the wheel just barely fits the chassis slot so any contact with the chassis kills the wheel's momentum, and the TZ is REALLY tight when cold.
Anyone have issues like this? I can;t get the box to turn the engine over long enough to start it half the time until the cold piston pinches in the sleeve and stops. The ofna box turns over my NovaRossi P5X with no problem. |
RE: Question about starter box and GT2 FT issues...
could the cylinder be flooded? I've heard some stuff about AE flywheels having problems with starterboxes. Something about not being able to use the flywheel from either the FT or RTR in a starterbox and having to use one from the opposite source (ie. not FT, then use RTR or vice versa). I'm not sure if that's the problem, personally, I doubt it.
But check to see if your cylinder is flooded, it may have a hard time bringing the crank to TDC because of it. Hope this helps. |

Grind out the slot on your chassis and heat that motor up to over 200. Here are some pictures of mine set up on my box.

I am having the sam problems, too. But I am running the Dynamite .12 and the pinch on that beast is pretty tight as well. The instructions on AE's site are not even close. I am running on one peg up front to keep it straight on the wheel. I might consider cutting the chassis some later, if I have to.

whatever you do, don't try filing down the rubber starter wheel while it's running... it doesn;t work
yeah the chassis slot is way too narrow and the starter box isn't the most powerful either... |
RE: Question about starter box and GT2 FT issues...
We cut the wheel down on the edges while it was going and it worked fine. I am still playing with the mounting however. Its just a bit of pain to get it to work right. Is there anyway to get a smaller wheel like for another starter box. I just dont want to cut my chassis.
