use locktight on every screw. Get the blue stuff. If u don't, u will screw up alot of stuff. Always clean and inspect ur vehicle after every run. Never leave fuel in the tank. and HAVE FUN

The first upgrade you should get is the crescenzi brake kit. You can get it from rc10gthobby.com. This is an awesome upgrade and will allow much finer breaking control.

I just brought my RC10GT last night with my B-day money (hey, I'm 15!). I'm running a factory team version with aluminum shocks, some sort of clutch upgrade, and a fantom 12 engine. By the way, my truck is used (thats why I got a 700 dollar total truck for 225 dollars. I spent an extra 55 dollars for a JR battery charger, and a gallon 20% fuel. I've got a futaba 2ph in it.

By the way, what type did you order?

Official RC10GT Thread
the rc10 is popular because it is fairly simple in design. i was working on my friends xxx-nt, and that thing was a pin in the ass. but the xxx-nt makes up for it with better quality and handling.
my rc10gt is cursed, seems like everytime i run it theres a freak accident.... |
Official RC10GT Thread
The only better quality found with the XXX-NT is with the radio gear. The truck itself isn't any better. In fact, the RC 10 is more durable than the Losi. The simpler, the better.

Official RC10GT Thread
Hey guys, well i should be recieving my rc10gt sometime this coming week, i traded some stuff for this rc10gt http://www.rcuniverse.com/gallery/sh...at=500&thumb=1 . Its older style team rc10gt with a tub chassis and a dynamite .12 engine. Now I have a few questions. First thing i want to do is upgrade the chassis, so i know there is a kit for a non-pullstart and a pullstart, which one do you guys recomend? What kind of engine should I upgrade to, and should i stick with a pullstart or nonpullstart(i want the cheapest) ? Any other things i should do to as far as upgrades?I really dont want to pour too much money into this project, I also have an emaxx im trying to upgrade. Im new to nitro, so sorry for all the questions. Please any help will be appreacited. Oh yeah, and i will be asking alot of questions in the future.

Official RC10GT Thread
Ill hopefully recieve it soon and it's the factory team pull start version kit.... :D u guys gotta recommend me things to put on even the obvious things! the smallest things you can think of! Im new!!
|
Official RC10GT Thread
Illmatic/Master,
Probably the best engine you can get is a non-pullstart. The overall price (engine, starter box, Ni-cads) is at least 100-200 dollars more, but after a while of using a pull start, you'll find that you've spent more money on the pullstart version than the non-pullstart version. All you have to do is ask the original owner of my truck (he gave me the stater box when I brought the truck). |

There are two engines on my mind right now .... the O.S .12 CvR and the fantom .12 03. I have no idea which one to go for! My LHS has got the O.S .12 engines but not the fantom engines. You see i live in the middle east, a country called the United Arab Emirates in the city of Dubai, anyone heard of it?? anyways gimme your opinions on the engines...
Thanx :p |
Official RC10GT Thread
Both very good engines. The Fantom is definitely more powerful. I have a Fantom .15 in my RC 10 and I love it. It's got tons of power, and it's very reliable.
|
Official RC10GT Thread
So if I do get the fantom which one would be better a .12 or .15 and could you tell me what the difference is??
Thanx grampi |
Official RC10GT Thread
If you plan on racing, go for the .12. .15's aren't allowed in the racing arena. If you plan on bashing, go for the .15. It's more powerful.
|
Official RC10GT Thread
Well I have a 1/10 kyosho buggy, which is all right, stock, and I could race it at the local track which has races every week.
But this RC10GT will just be bashing and having fun with! So I want it to be as powerful as can be! I got the $$! So tell me the small bits to change to! someone told me to take the carberator restrictor or something out when I got it.. is the o.s .15 engine good for me? cuz I have access to that easy but with the fantom I gotta order it, which takes 2 or 3 weeks to arrive here.... thanx grampi big help :) |
Official RC10GT Thread
Btw does anyone have any cool pics of their rc10gt or even videos of them in action? links?

If you decide to go with the Fantom, there are some things you'll need to replace. The stock clutch and the stock idler gear in the tranny can't handle the power of the Fantom. It produces roughly twice the power of the stock Thunder Tiger .15. I recommend going with the MIP 4N1 clutch. That's what I'm using and it works very well. The Fantom will eat the stock nylon idler gear for lunch. I replaced mine with a Robinson alloy gear. I have had no problems since. Tower Hobbies sells both of these items. One other thing. A stock RC 10 is good for about 35 mph, which is plenty fast on a track, but for bashing you may want more top speed. I'm using a 17 tooth clutch bell and a 58 totth spur gear. It has a top speed of more than 50 mph. The good thing is that the Fantom has so much power, you can gear it up like this without losing any acceleration.

Official RC10GT Thread
Would I have to change the same things if I put a o.s .15 engine in there? is this engine any good?
Ill check out what stuff they got at my LHS, and ill get back to you. anyway thanx for all your help grampi |

Adjust your slipper properly and you shouldn't have any drive train problems with any engine. The OS 15 is a very good engine in both the CV(x) and CV-r(x) versions. No changes would be required for these engines. It seems that just about every hobby shop on the planet carries them and parts support is also good. Where you live I would go with the OS. :)

(X) just means it has a pullstart

Originally posted by grampi True statement. However, if you want to put all the additional power these engines make to the ground, you'll need to upgrade the clutch and the idler gear. Why waste all the extra power by soaking it up with the slipper clutch? |
Official RC10GT Thread
As I said earlier, I want to my LHS and they got the o.s .15 cv r, so i guess im gonna go with that and change some other small things.... anyways I want to thank all of you for helping me on this, i wouldn't know **** without you guys, you've been a big help. :)
Thanx again |

The CVR is a dam good engine. You shouldn't be disappointed with your choice.
|
Official RC10GT Thread
:D Im so lookin forward to it! They are building two new tracks 15 mins away from me, one offroad and one onroad....!! It should be ready in a month or so... and by that time I should get my rc10gt kit build it, break in the engine and be ready to race!
Ill get the .15 cvrx, new spur and idler gear and goooooooo~! |
Official RC10GT Thread
Master,
I know this was mentioned briefly before in the thread, but if you plan on racing, you will likely not be able to run a .15 engine. Check with your local tracks before you put one in. You'll probly need a .12. Ya, I know where you're at (Dubai). Iwould suspect money is NO issue :D |
Official RC10GT Thread
Lol, yea i think they only allow .15's, but i think they will have a class for that or something,, cuz everyone over here's got .15's. What would be the top speed if I had a .12 o.s in my rc10gt?and top speed for the .15 o.s? Im really gonna be bashing and maybe enter a few races...
|
Official RC10GT Thread
I don't know about top speed with an OS CV-X .12, But on my truck, I have a fantom 12, and my gears are stock. As of now, I can hit 50+.
|

What kind of truck do you have your Fantom in?

Uh, oh......where's this going :D
|
Official RC10GT Thread
It took a 17 tooth clutch bell and a 58 tooth spur gear to get those kinds of speeds with my RC 10.
|
Official RC10GT Thread
he has an rc10gt since this is in an rc10gt thread
anjd whats an idler gear? |
Official RC10GT Thread
The idler gear is the middle gear in the tranny. It basically transfers power from the input to the output gear.
