Nitro Rush Won't Move
I have a Nitro Rush that, ever since I went off a jump and landed on the throttle, won't move. The engine will start fine but it just won't move and it makes a grinding sound when I rev it up and it won't move. The spur gear isn't stripped and it moves freely. Could this be a tranny or diff problem? I hope not, since the tranny is a pain to take out! [8D]

RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
WOW !!!!!! Nice to finally chat to someone with a Rush. Very rare find. Is the flywheel spinning?
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Yes, the flywheel spins, the clutch bell spins, the break and the spur gear spin.
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Are the dogbones in the carriers?
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Yes
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Tranny and differential are the same thing in this rig. That would be my guess. And yes it is a bit of a pain to remove it.
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Sorry I should rephrase that. The transmiion would be my guess. If the clutch bell, spur gear, and brake pad are spining and the dog bones are in the carriers, then my guess is it is something in the trasmission. And yes it is a pain to remove. You basically have to disassemble the whole rear end to remove the tranmission.

RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
where do you get your parts for it at?
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Anywhere I can find them. I mainly use Hobbys Etc Ohio and Tower Hobbies. RC Planet has parts too.
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
I haven't drove a Rush yet. I am in the procees of building two of them. One is mainly going to be stock and the other one will not be. Neither one is ready to run yet though. Hopefully by spring I will have them finished. Then me and my son can go rip it up somewhere. Hobby Etc Ohio is getting out of HPI parts, just a heads up.
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Why aren't they ready to run?
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Neede a motor for my sons and electronics and bodies for both of them.
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
I have the HPI T3.0 in mine and it runs great and has good run times. I would recomend that or an SH .18. They are great engines and easy to tune. Heres the link for the SH .18: [link]http://server.sohouniverse.net/~himotora/shopping/pgm-more_information.php?id=597&=SID[/link]. What price range are you in for the radio?
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
NOt sure about the price range yet. Suggestions?
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Well it's kind of hard to suggest a radio with out a price range. What do you want? 2.4? AM? FM?
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Cheap and simple, my son is 7. As far as for mine, I think a friend has one that he is going to give me a good price on, not to sure what it is though. If he says it is good , then it must be type of deal. Looking for as small of an engine as possibly. Dont want to much power in my sons hands yet.

RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Probably just a 2 channel am radio

RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
SO is your tranny fried?
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
If you need diff gears get the MT2 gears as they are much better then the Rush gears. On the Rush it is very important to set the slipper clutch properly or you will mess up diff gears and the main gear in the transmission. I have a Rush but have not run it in years. Just have TOO many toys. [X(]
Parts are only going to get harder to fine for the Rush as it has been discontinued for a while now.[:o] |
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
DO you have an MT2?
|
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
No I have a MT 1 3/4 and use the gears out of it in my Rush which is the same diff gears as the MT2. The Rush gears are pot metal and the MT gears are MUCH more durable. But you still need to have the slipper set properly!!!!
OK for those that have never heard of a MT 1 3/4 I will enplane. My MT 1 3/4 started life as a MT1. I have up graded it to a MT2 SS other then the chassis, upper deck and the radio box. I even put the 100cc fuel tank in it that HPI said will not fit a MT1 but it will with some minor modification. I have MANY RC vehicles. I sold some so I only have around 25 not counting my few air and water RC vehicles. |
RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
Montana Mike, a good idea for your son would be to get a good .18 engine (SH .18 or T3.0) and also get an FM radio with servo end point adjustments such as this one: [link]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHBB5**&P=0[/link]. Then you could adjust how fast the truck can go with the end point adjustments, and as he becomes a better driver you can let him go faster. I think that might be more practical than buying a less powerful engine in the first place.

RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
SH based engines are very good engines. They are made by Golden Lion and include but not limited to SH, XTM, LRP, Sportsworks and more. If you are going to stay in the hobby consider a 2.4GHz radio as they are way better then AM or Standard FM.

RE: Nitro Rush Won't Move
I'm banking on the idler gear being stripped.
Or you could not have to work on it, and send the whole truck to ThunderbirdJunkie |
