RE: first look into nitro
U guys know why traxxas stuff breaks to much! Because the engine is powerful!!!!!!! And only skilled drivers can handle that high speed.

RE: first look into nitro
i dont go to my lhs unless its an emergency they overcharge i usually go to tower. ok so whats a god truck to start nitro either 2wd or 4wd that's around 300 or less
|
RE: first look into nitro
Yeah that's true. Nitro fuel and glow plugs are something your going to always be buying. The more you run the more it's going to cost. Plus you'll have those time where you will need to buy spare parts as well. With electrics, you get the car/truck/buggy and batteries and your pretty much done. That's why I got out of Nitro for a while and got into 1/18 cars/trucks. Even the spare parts were a lot less. Hahaha But if your good and you dont over do it and push your nitro to limits you know can't be reached The cost wont be that bad. Just drive smart and you'll be fine. Nitro is a lot of fun. That's why I just bought another buggy. I've missed the blue smoke and sound hahaha

I'm not one for getting pissed about what other people have to say but 241 have you ever owned a Traxxas? Better yet, if you have, did you know how to drive it? You are so so sad. Sorry buddy better luck with your new brand of RC.

RE: first look into nitro
I have been in this hobby for over 20 years and yes I have had and have had buddys with Traxxas.I still have a Jato but for the $$I have in it I can't sell it I would almost have to give it away.Your Sad for recomending Junk to the guy.Go buy a Ofna,Hpi,Losi and you will soon see how bad Traxxas really is pooooor Quality simple as that.I take it you only have had Traxxas if you have had better then maybe you would understand but I guess your a Traxxas fan boy.

RE: first look into nitro
Well like I said I got rid of my T-maxx and I now have a HPI RS4 3, Losi Mini-T and a Exceed HyperSpeed. Have yet to have any problems with any of them, just like my traxxas. It's more user than brand of RC kid. To each his own.

Ok JUNIOR:D Sounds like you have some high quality rc's:D
|
RE: first look into nitro
God you guys are sad and sorry. Rc is rc who gives a rats as$ what you have. Be smart about your driving and anything will last.

RE: first look into nitro
Sorry not about spending $300+ on every RC purchase to say I have "high quality sh*t"

RE: first look into nitro
TamiyaKrawler just get a Firestorm. Heard many good things about their bash-ability. I would NOT recommend any Traxxas model really, except for the Revo but its pricey. Also, like others have mentioned, make sure you have a bit more then you initially spend on an RC put away for replacement parts/fuel.
And joey - 241 has a point. My LHS stocks nothing but Traxxas and I must say.. I always see those Traxxas boys coming in for replacement parts. Usually from the lower end models (stampede, rustler, etc.) and the Jato (probably because of the "noobs with speed" effect..). The only Traxxas model that looks decent to me would probably be the Revo (heard some great things about them) or the Slash (electric). I don't have a lot of history with nitro (mostly electric), but I must say that some of their lower-end models are pure crap. Also, joey... you really should NOT have posted what RCs you owned. Not flaming you or anything.. but being proud of an "Exceed".. that is really a target for flaming. (The RS4 and Mini-t I really wouldn't count as they have nothing to do with this category of RCs) And, honestly, I have driven Traxxas models before (nitro and non-nitro)... the speed is really not too much more than any equivalent RC. Especially when I would probably throw the Traxxas engine away anyway. |

Sorry buddy better luck with your new brand of RC. If you'd sit a Traxxas truck next to an HPI or Losi truck and then strip each truck of its parts, you will see why we keep telling you that Traxxas simply sucks! Be smart about your driving and anything will last. I see a Traxxas truck sailing 20ft. in the air...Smart driving??I don't think so... If you have a Traxxas truck, you are limited where and how you drive. Sure smart driving will keep parts from breaking, but you won't have fun bashing. |
RE: first look into nitro
could i race with a firestorm??
|
RE: first look into nitro
At club level yes it can be raced.

RE: first look into nitro
Nothing wrong with my Exceed or the Mini-T. I beat the hell out of both and everythings been good so far. I can't complain. An my cheap as$ Exceed only cosy me $133 shipped. I know where you guys are coming from though. They're ALOT of other brands out there that would benefit this kid better than Traxxas. I was just simply saying that Traxxas wasn't all that bad. I've also owned a Associated Nitro TC3 and a Losi LST2, both were great cars/trucks. Through RCU I've traded a lot and have had the chance to try my hand at a couple different brands. But the HPI Firestorm was a nice suggestion for him. I was looking at that one myself no too long ago. It is what it is guys, to each his own. Have fun, be safe.

RE: first look into nitro
If you knew where we were coming from then why all the fuss?[sm=drowning.gif] On a side note I just saw your post in the exceed forum. How can you say you beat the crap out of your exceed when you don't even have it yet?Simply amazing.Your credibility just went down the drain with that post[sm=spinnyeyes.gif][sm=thumbs_down.gif]
Heres your direct quote in case you forgot,UPS tracking says that it will be here tomorrow. So for now it's a waiting game,Sounds like you bash it pretty hard when it's in the mail[X(] |
RE: first look into nitro
HEY UPS can be tough [&:]

RE: first look into nitro
Buddy John has the HyperSpeed. We run together and that thing takes a hell of a beating. That's why I ordered my own. Having driven it and seeing it first hand, I CAN say that it's not a bad buggy at all. Thanks, Dickneck

RE: first look into nitro
LOL this thread is hillarious XP.
Oh and you said the exceed cost $133.. I believe a firestorm is only like $160 or something.. not too much more. Unless that exceed is Nitro, but even then that is even worse as a $133 (new) nitro HAS to be complete and utter crap lol XP (I mean.. otherwise, why would anybody purchase the $300+ nitros?? Sounds almost toy-grade quality to me.) Oh and btw I wasn't saying your mini-t was crap.. I actually like minis, I was just pointing out that those two (mini-t and rs4) are not even in the category this forum post is in.. those are 18 scale and on-road respectively. Have no clue what the exceed is (electric/nitro). |
RE: first look into nitro
Exceed is both electric and nitro. They are a lower grade RC hobby brand. People in the Exceed thread have both good and bad things to say about them. But you'll find that in any thread. I dont have the funds anymore to buy $300+ RC's so from what I've seen and read, I went and got the same buggy as my friend. He's had his for a while and has not had many problems with it. And for the problems he has had, they were caused by him. My Nitro RS4 is a great car that has all Carbon Fiber on it now and has a nice Futaba FM system. Not bad right? Some people can't always get what they want and have to settle for less. Either case lets put this to bed. You guys have fun and enjoy the hobby. Joe

RE: first look into nitro
I will add to this thread only for the benefit for someone looking at this thread in the future trying to get some real info. Traxxas makes some good vehicles....just like HPI, Losi, etc. My advice would be to look around at different threads and forums. It really matters what you want to do with the truck.
|
RE: first look into nitro
^ Agreed. Out of the Traxxas nitro flagship, the only one really worth looking at is the Revo... Having owned both a T-maxx AND a Savage (and my bro owns an S-maxx), the T just doesn't cut it. It was my first truck and had under 9 gallons on it, I have broken almost every part on the truck, some parts 3 times before upgrading to something better. Spent of $700 on replacements and mods, over half would have to be on replacements though. My Savage I have managed to break a total of $25 in stock parts over the last 3 years, and I put that truck through 3X of of anything that my T-maxx has ever been through. I recommend any of the major brands for smaller 1/10 trucks as well. The Losi and AE's 1/10s seem to be the best out of the pack from what I've seen.

RE: first look into nitro
Sonolin Joeys will be nitro when he get's it :D,the electrics are half that $60 (new) LOL.It's a Red Cat,Himoto,Exceed,Hsp,ZZZ all the same chinese crap. They are (toy grade).Joey I highly dought you ever had a LST2 cause if you did you sure wouldn't settle for some Exceed.Go Bash it and see what happens that thing will fall apart,I know becouse I have one Red cat. It's in pieces and not worth fixing it's total junk.Get more than 5 foot of air and your quality dog bones will be gone, top plate broke and so on.I don't even considre them real Rc's worse than Traxxas.Total waste of money for a shelve queen. If you plan on jumping it when you get it of course[X(]get plenty of top plates cause there real brittle.Joey I don't find you very credible, did UPS deliver your buggy that you bash the hell out of today?[sm=lol.gif]
Tamiyakrawler get the Storm,xxx-nt or a gt2 you can't go wrong with any of these three. All are bashable and Raceable and made with quality parts unlike the others mentioned in this thread. |
RE: first look into nitro
Hello Joe,
I understand some folks want to get into the hobby and have limited funds. Most of these trucks, planes, copters are expensive by most of our standards. Is this the type of truck your looking at http://www.raidentech.com/exhyspbeve1s.html? If this is the truck I would recommend you reconsider. Although I do think Traxxas's has some good trucks but they are $$$ I think you should consider HPI Firestorm. Towerhobbies has a 3 month, no interest plan at 86.66 and you will get alot more enjoyment out of the hobby. Edit: I think there is even another 20 bucks off! |
