get a tmaxx it is 4 wheel drive and has a bigger engine. There is also a lot more support and parts for the tmaxx than the smaxx

RE: first look into nitro

Well the S-Maxx sucks too! So does the T-Maxx! They have major durability issues.

If your into working on it rather than driving it then Traxxas is for you.Traxxas=overpriced, outdated junk.

I really dont know why some of you post like this......it helps no one. Some of you let your brand bias get in the way of a discussion. All the major companies have pros and cons. You just cant make a statement like that without knowing what the person wants to do with a truck/car.

If it keeps someone from making the mistake of buying a Traxxas than I say it works.I don't need to know what they plan on doing with it to know that Traxxas sucks and there is better rc's to be had.I know more cons for Traxxas than pros for them.I'm not brand bias I have all kinds of rc's but know junk and thats what Traxxas is Overpriced Outdated Junk.If you like Traxxas more power to you but If you buy a real rc then I believe you would have the same opinion about Traxxas rc's that I do.

Lets just say there is a reason the S-Maxx has never been mentioned in a , looking for a nitro truck!!! thread. There are people who have the S-Maxx and hate it, they say it is really fragile.

For your first nitro truck, look at the HPI Firestorm (much better quality and deisng, very durable), Associated GT2 (racer), and Losi XXX-NT (racer that can be had for $222 at modelsports.co.uk)

Yes,you definitly don't want to go with the S-Maxx or T-Maxx...I knew a guy who spent $500 dollars in 8 months just in repairs![X(]He actually sounded proud of it too!:)
I've had my Firestorm for a little over a year and aside from the flawed batch of nylon parts that I broke,I havn't hardly broken anything since.

RE: first look into nitro

I had a T-Maxx for about 7 months. The issues I had and the money I spent on spare parts was caused by my own driving. Nothing was caused by factory default. Granted their prices are alittle steep by I dont think of their product as crap. My girls brother and father both bought Revo's after they saw my T-Maxx and not to mention they also beat the piss out of them. I no longer have my T-Maxx but they both still have their Revo's and they run great. I find their motors are real easy to tune as well. Hpi is a great brand, along with Losi, Ofna, Cen, Thunder Tiger. It all about what your going to do with it. But by no means should you let someone else's option make your decision for you. The way I look at is, I find a brand that offers great support and also easy to get spare parts for. If you can search a bunch of web sites and come up with a brand that they all carry, there is a reason for that. Do your research, read some threads on brands/models that YOU want and make a purchase.

I had a electric Rustler and Stampede they were pretty durable. I got rid of them and bought my T-Maxx. Was more than happy while I had all of them.

RE: first look into nitro

Nothing wrong with Traxxas or any of them they all make some of us money. I think you need to rethink this option of going for the Nitro unless you expect to have a big learning curve. There actually not even in the same universe as electric other than there RC. The operation of a Nitro RC is probably one of the toughest Hobbies out there. That includes planes, cars, trucks, tanks or what ever. If you plan on persuing a Nitro Hobby you must think in terms of a lot more continued output of money unlike electric when your done its a long spell without spending money. Nitro if you persue it hard can run you $20 to $150 a week end. Go to your Hobby shop and check out the price of fuel. :D
