RE: factory settings

helps to know which model
best way is get the instruction manual, and read it. There should be a section (seen it in every manual I have) on the engine, in that section should be something telling you what the factory settings should be, and how to get back to them.
That is the best help I can give you with the little bit of info given.

What car and engine? As sycho said just check the manual. If you dont have it or cant find it,(Or are just too lazy to look and want us to do all the work) Tell us the car and one of us will either look them up or tell you where to find them.

RE: factory settings

the idle screw should usually be set so there is a 1mm(had a engine that needed a teeny bit more) gap in the carb. One of the few settings I found should be the same engine to engine ;)

As SyCo stated, the idle isn't a matter of turns, but opening on the carburator. take the air filter off, then turn clock wise to open the gap or counterclockwise to close it. the thickness of a credit card is .9 to 1mm
