Default Question about painting please help.

Well I am a very big newb to painting and the whole RC thing. I got a new body and paintied it with the wrong kind of paint so now it is a bash body[8D] But in the process I noticed that it looked cool when you could see through the paint end everything. I was wondering if you can paint the body real lightly and still have that clear affect. I know you have to have a back coating but i was wondering if a clear would work the same way. I hope yall undertand what I am saying because i know it is kinda confusing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What you'll need to do is to find some translucent paints. Most paints are opaque meaning you can't see through them. I know some Createx paints are translucent. Search the web for info on Pactra Racing Finish, Spaz Stix and Alclad to see what kind of paints they have. I have seen a translucent body now and again, but I don't know what paints were used.

If you are new, and dont have an airbrush, then use any of the Pactra Racing Finish "pearl" Paint color spray cans. These all take mulitple coats to become opaque, so 1 or 2 light coats will still allow them to be translucent.

chris - as long as u use fuel proof paints, such as the pactra racing finish, you will not need a backing coat, if u wish the color to stay translucent.

if you want a can, racing finish has a few colors of "candy" colors which are normally backed by silver or gold. you could use the candy color which is translucent and just put on a few light coats and dont back it with any color. i guess it would look like that color window tint that some people have on their full size cars. good luck!!
