Default Hard Bodies instead of Lexan

I was thinking about this. If they could make hard bodies that were as light as lexan, wouldnt that be much better? Sure lexan doesnt break easily and bends on the crashes, so your body comes out ok, but all the energy is transferred to the chassis, where serious and expenvise damage could be done. If they made hard bodies, in a serious crash, the body would obviously brake into pieces, but the chassis itself should end up with much less damage. Just a thought, what do you guys think.

oh really? I always thought the energy was transferred through to the chassis. If the lexan bends so easily, wont the energy simply be transferred into the bumper and car itself. Im still unsure, but you very well may be right. Thanks for the input

lol if by shells is a shocker - im a homo priest!!! its designed so it gives, yea eventually if hit hard enuff u bust it, impacts are inevitable - thats what foam bumpers are for - but as far as bodyshell impact protection is concerned...no mate it aint happennin im afraid.

its thin so its lightweight, easy to work, cheap to manufacture, low imperfections and bends when u crash, thats all there is to it im afraid lads.

just try not to crash into curbs too often - u will be fine mate
