Colour changing paint
I bought a can of Tamiya's PS-46 Iridescent Purple/Green colour changing paint to spray my body with, but i've sprayed the whole can on it and you can hardly see the paint. Am I doing anything wrong?

RE: Colour changing paint
you need to back it with black other wise the light just shines through the paint. when its backed with black the light bounces of the paint making the solid colour change effect.

Yeah, i knew it had to be backed with black but usually when you paint a body you can see the colour going on and building up in layers, but this iridescent paint literally looks like there's nothing there, just a faint purple tint when you hold it up to the light. If i back it with black now, are you sure the whole body won't look black?

I havnt used the tamiya stuff before but i have used other brands like alcad, spaz-stix etc these look invisible untill they are backed.
if you are unsure do a test run on an empty plastic drinks bottle (clear) first.

It is c/through. I have the purple to green paint and have just finished doing the body with it yesterday and when you first put the 2-tone paint on it looks c/through but the balck gives a backing.

you know that if you paint front part white and the rear black, it makes it always stand out when you look at it one way or the other, you have to fade the backing, or you can play with it, zigzags. etc etc. Have fun with your backing also.

RE: Colour changing paint
i have a can of purple/green, plus a can of gunmetal and metallic blue. i am testing purple/green backed with gunmetal and purple/green backed with metallic blue, will post pictures (or a review if the pictures fail).
Wow, backing it with metallic blue is a good idea, it has a turquoise main colour, which goes to purple and green! i'm really stuck with which colour scheme to do now! [:'(]
