racing finish paint is $4 for a 3 oz. bottle i think. ive used racing finish may times and it is a good paint. thinner do not but at a hobby shop it is a rip off. go to home depot or sumthing and get the thinner there. it comes in bigger bottles as is alot cheaper. hope this helps

I think for starters the VL is an awesome brush to go with...If you spend a little more, you can get an Iwata Eclipse BCS....I have 4 of them and use them a lot, they are incredible. It just depends on how much you want to paint and how often.

I use Auto Air paint, it is water based and needs no reducing. You can pick it up pretty cheap from [link=http://www.Coastairbrush.com]Coast Airbrush[/link]. It is from aroung $5.60 up to $13 (4oz) for the cooler flake stuff. I like water based for several reasons. It is not as toxic, SUPER easy cleanup and if you mess up a panel, wipe it off with water and re-shoot it. I have been using Auto Air almost exclusively for a year now, painted close to 90 bodies, and have never had any problems. I have never had a customer complain either. I started with Parma Faskolor but Auto Air is even easier to use than Parma (if you believe that!).

The other paint I use is House of Kolor, it is a bit more expensive at around $7-$9 (4oz) but the colors are incredible!!! You will have to pick up adhesion promotor and interclear but the extra cost is worth the finished product [8D].

airbrushing, quite a few. I shot half my car with purple and barely used any, applying about 5 thin coats.

When I shot my body I just painted I used Pactra acrylic paint that said it was already thinne for use in airbrushing. Yeah right. Even then it was still too thick, and not having any of their thinner I used 70% Isopropyl alcohol that I use for applying custom graphics, to thin the paint out, and actually worked quite well. I then used a laquer based for the white and final coat.

Question for you guys? What do you use for the last coat? Do you actually spray a clearcoat on? Does it need to be heat resistant in case it touches the head?
