Default Too much paint!

I started painting my new body, but I wasn't holding the can as far away as I should have, so now certain areas have paint caked on, and the paint ran a little. Is there any way I could fix this? Maybe sand it down or something? Thanks!

If it's lexan, and you painted the inside, does it matter?

If it's a hard body, and you painted the outside, use brake fluid (not cleaner) to remove the paint.

Well, it doesn't look all that attractive. I used a pearl white, so it is transparent, and you can see where some areas are thick and others aren't. It's my first attempt at painting a body, so bare with me. :P Since it's a pearl color, I need to spray on a backing coat, for instance, white. Will that fix it? I could just keeping spraying the pearl white until everything looks even. What should I do? Thanks!

I made the same mistake when I went with the pearl.

When you spray the pearl do a couple light cotes. It is going to be transparent. Then spray white for pearl white, orange for pearl orange, and so on.

Hope this helps.

Well, could I sand down the areas where the paint is pretty thick, or should I keep spraying coats over the thin spots until everything looks even?

Im not sure. I dont think sanding is a good idea because it seems like that would scracth the body. Maybe a very fine paper.

I just know what you should do next time.

Just be creative and make it work.

Good Luck

Alright, thanks man! If it's too bad and all FUBAR, then I'll just buy another body, and do some crazy paint stuff with this one! Have a good one!

IF you soak the body in brake fluid you can just start over with the paint job.

actually, the paint will fill any scratches or scotches on the inside of the body, in fact it mechanically holds the paint to the body, rather than just chemically... you wouldnt be able to tell that youve scotched the insides all up once you lay a new layer of paint onto it
the tricky part is to get the paint all even again, especially where they like to bunch up in corners etc , which is almost impossible to reach or sand evenly , and you might be sanding away at really thin paint while missing the excessive paint altogether and all that
and one more thing, the surface has to be clean after the sanding , i think a damp lint-free cloth might do it
