How to Remove ALL the Paint from a Lexan Body
Hi.
is it POSSIBLE to remove ALL the paint from a Lexan R/C car body?
I'm not sure what brand paint it is, its on a Pre-painted BoLINK Digger, I'd geuss patra or that other common brand.
a couple people said brake fluid works fine, someone else says it makes Lexan brittle and cloudy. what about using paint stripper? (the kind for Wood, Metal, glass, plastic.)
Thanks guys!
(BTW I did read the other thread on this which didn't really help to much, lol)

If it was painted right it probably won't come off all the way since the paint bonds to the lexan, your better off getting a whole new body for it and paint it from there.

How to Remove ALL the Paint from a Lexan Body
Hi.
The problem is I CANT get another body.
would you have an unpainted BoLINK Digger body? (part #2026)
if I painted the OUTSIDE of the body (and clear coated it) this would be fine as long as the car never rolled, right?

If you clean it really well and put some sort of sealant over it then I guess you could paint the outside of the body, but it won't look as nice as the inside.

GO buy a gallon of denatured alcohol and soak the body overnight. If that does not work nothing will. You could also sand it off as long as you were planning to use flat colors when you re paint it.

bolink
if ur lookin for the bolink vw body, go to towerhobbies.com and do a search for it....i saw an unpainted beetle for the 1/10 bolink there the other day...$20. BUT....im still interesting in stripping the paint...i tried it today, and i couldnt get paint stripper to work...it just made a big brown mess..i think it was old.. anyways, i tried usin acetone or whatever nailpolish remover is made out of...(hope she doesnt notice) and it got it off! problem is that it takes a lot of the stuff and lots of time and rubbing...very annoying! i worked for half an hour and for about 2 square inches off...anyone have a better idea?? i dont want to spend another $30 to get a new body, and this one is already trimmed and everything...grrrr....

thanks, is the 1/10 scale unpainted bolink body the Digger beetle (with the fake engine in the hood) or the baja beetle style? (no engine, squared nose)

painting
back to the original question; repainting a body. i hate the body that came with my mbx (its the purple/white buggy with yellow flames). They sent me a yellow/purple body with yellow/blue wheels....looks retarded. SO, i wanted to strip and repaint mine b/c im cheap....but at the same time, if i had to spend 20 or 30 and get a new body, i didnt mind...so i experimented...
the only thing i got to work was bix paint stripper...nasty stuff, but it ripped it right off HOWEVER...
my conclusion: DONT STRIP THE PAINT....lol...as much as i hated the body, it is now ruined...the lexan turned to rubber (lol...it lost its stiffness), it got all hazy, and not all the paint would come off...time to get a new one....
i think ill get a whole bunch of nasty paint and turn the body into something form junkyard wars...rust and all...thats about all i can do! lol

Did you use Acrylic or Laquer based paints. If Acrylic you can leave it in a tub of water for a week & it'll slowly come off. If Laquer based don't even bother removing it.
