The LaQuinta there is nice. Right next to a Days Inn that is also nice.

Jon Martin puts it on in Crowley, LA. A long time ago, they used to have the "Cajun Nats" in Lafayette and they had a guy that would cook Crawfish etouffe right at the field in a HUGE pot! It was awesome. That contest has since gone to the great pattern gods in the sky and Jon picked it up. This year's contest is at the RAMS field Oct. 22-23. Jon only lives about a mile from the field and he invites us all over for supper both Friday and Saturday night. It's always the last contest of the year and usually fairly large but it has no more "weight" than the other awesome contests that happen in the district, it's just the name that was carried on in the Cajun style of go big or go home. This is a contest that is not to be missed....even if it is Jon that puts it on.

All joking aside, Jon is a very gracious host, and spares no expense to make this a "must-attend" contest, flying or not. Regarding rooms in the area... what about the Crowley Inn? Anyone who has stayed there gets the joke...

If you want to upgrade a little there's a new Drury Inn / Wacker Barrel about 12 mi east on I-10.

Thanks for the "historic" background info. I'll consider.

NSRCA.org's D6 webpage mentions a contest in North Dallas around earlier Oct. Anybody knows about it? Thanks.

Thanks Earl, you're correct.  Contest according to the website is Oct. 8-9.  I had it wrong on my calendar and have corrected my original post.

Only if I can get the the new 2013 software for the scoring program. I will be working on that when I get home next week.
In the past the software had not been updated in time. If anyone can help with this please let me know.

I did some checking with Gene, Dave, Jon and the plan is to fly P-13 (only) at both the Cajun Nats & North Dallas contests.

Just found out the Crowley Rice festival is the same weekend as the Cajun Nationals. Please make your hotel reservations early. If you have trouble finding a hotel please let me know and I will
help as much as I can. The Rice Festival is also a great place for the ladies to get away for a few hours. Please bring your wife or girlfriend

Awesome jon! For those who might have needed a little extra excuse to come to this contest...this is it! The Rice Festival offers TONS of great food (and beverages lol) as well as the carnival rides and great live music. I wish the molly ringwalds played friday night [>:].... They are one of the greatest 80s cover bands!
