Default Green Sea SC Contest

Thank you to Buff, Marvin, and the rest of the CAM for putting on a great meet!

Round one was flow with tornado watches and some rain (and some extreme crab angles!), so we called it a day after that. We did manage to crank out 5 rounds by 2:00 pm on Sunday. We also had a great judging seminar/BS session back at the hotel while all of the really severe weather was occuring.

Great flying field, great people, great weather Sunday, I would say it was a fantastic kick off to the 2011 season.

Thanks again guys, can't wait for the next contest!

Wish I could've been there. Always a great time.

Any results anywhere?

Jeff, we should have read the rule book. Your first flight would have been a re-fly because of the rain which happened right after you took off.

Tim,

You have to declare than when it happens. A few years ago at the NATS it was raining cats and dogs, but NO ONE would quit...so we all flew. You can't fly the flight and then decide to refly, you have to alert the judges during the flight or before,

(1) attempt for each official flight. The CD shall have sole discretionary authority to grant a single repeat attempt if for some unforeseen reason beyond control of the contestant, the model fails to become airborne (i.e., safety delay due to other aircraft traffic, weather or etc.). If the flight is interrupted by an unforeseen reason beyond control of the contestant (i.e. sudden deteriorating weather or air traffic but excluding any mechanical failure of the aircraft) the competitor is entitled to a re-flight with only the remaining unscored maneuvers being scored. The re-flight must occur by the end of the current round and the result of the re-flight will be final.

Sounds cut and dry. He had to say something for sure. By continuing the flight he made it a moot point. Looking at that I can't see where a judge could call the flight.

Maybe we need a shout out?

Tim,

Thats what I'm saying...he can stop in the middle of the round and pick up from there, but you can't complete a fully scored flight and then decide to re-fly it.

Agreed, misuse of the word "Re-fly".

Any data points like who was flying what, i.e. aircraft and power plant....particularly George A and Viper Driver (Jeff C)? Like to hear about all if available.

Hi Glen,

George was flying an Inspec YS powered. Just a beautiful plane, awesome paint.

Jeff is still flying the same Lightning with the same equipment as he was, even the same batteries he's been flying since 2007.

MasterTech,

Thanks for info...that dang George just just keeps on flying to too good with his YS powered ships...

Funny you mentioned Jeff is flying with the same stuff as 2007, why did you mention that? ...he'll be unstoppable with fresh stuff in 2011 providing he gets out of the shop and fly more. Not that I am promoting him to do that...

Glen,

After flying with Jeff last year at Winston, he isn't far off from where he was, and now that he has some practice, I bet he is even better. I was hoping to make Green Sea, but wasn't able to.
