For the 2nd year, the Miramar Radio Control Flyers Club, played host to the 2nd Annual Top Gun Pattern Classic this past weekend. There were 16 pilots, from across District 7, in attendance at the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station located near San Diego. There were 2 days of great flying with temps in the low 80s up to the high 90s. All pilots joined in the fun, along with a few rattlesnakes in the pit area! With only 3 classes represented, Bill Wallace, the Contest CD, decided to run only one flight line. 4 rounds were flown on Saturday, followed by the final two on Sunday. Awards were passed out by 12:30 pm so that the out-of-state pilots could get back on the road to get home.
I would like to thank Bill Wallace for doing an outstanding job CD’ing this event. Thanks to “big” Mike, Jean, and Tommy for keeping the scores. In addition, a special thanks to the Miramar Radio Control Flying Club for the use of their flying field this weekend. Those guys are top notch for setting up the field, guarding the gate, and some wonderful cooking. Specifically, we thank Jerry, Curtis, Georgio, Robin, and Tom Phan (photographer) and the other club members present for all their great support. We hope to be back next year.

Thanks for the coverage, Jarvis. Bill and the Miramar club put on a fun and well run contest. Lunch both days was great. Thanks to Rusty Fried with helping to help rectify some issues on the Osiris, I appreciate the help that all of the veterans offer the new guys.
