I am saddened to report that a long-time District 7 member and pattern flyer, Chuck Hartman, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2012. Chuck was a fixture on the District 7 pattern scene and always willing to help his fellow flyer. I just recently spoke with Chuck at the AMA Expo this past January during the NSRCA meeting. Chuck told me that he was looking forward to the upcoming pattern competition season. Chuck was a dedicated pattern flyer and will be missed. Keep your wings level and stay in the box. RIP Chuck.

That's very sad news. Chuck was one of those guys that just loved pattern flying. He was a fixture at the local events and he always had a smile and a very humble disposition. Even though he switched to electric recently I'll miss his yellow and orange Focus.
Blue Skies Chuck.

Wow! That is awful news, Jarvis. I just saw/talked to him a month ago at the AMA Expo... my thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.

Jarvis - That is sad news indeed. I had just seen Chuck at the AMA Expo. Chuck was always a bright spot at all of the pattern contests. He truly loved flying pattern and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

That is so close to us, and I had just met all of you in D7 this last year. I liked Chuck so much because of his easy going attitude and he was so cool after the mid air during the Bear Mountain contest. So sorry to hear this.
Thank you for the notification, Jarvis.

Hi Jarvis,
I am truly sad that we lost chuck. Here was a guy who, who not only was a fixture but set a good example. I never heard him complain or ***** about anything, he just loved to fly and challenged all of us to fly the best we can. He was a credit to NSRCA Dist. 7. Our Prayers to his family and friends.

A memorial mass will be held Saturday March 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2046 Mar Vista Dr. Newport Beach, Ca 92660. A reception will follow at the church. His wife is anxious to meet Chuck's fellow flyers because they were such a big part of his life.
