The Riverside RC Club is proud to sponsor the first annual Chuck Hartmann Memorial Pattern Contest April 14, 15 2012 at the Riverside RC Club. Chuck passed away suddenly Feb. 6, 2012. He was a fixture at the District 7 events. The Riverside RC Club voted to rename its annual spring pattern contest in honor of its long time member and friend, Chuck Hartmann.
Attached is the flier for the event. Please encourage anyone that has a inkling to try precision aerobatics to come out and give it a try. We opened Sportsman through Intermediate for any AMA legal airplane (except Turbines...). So, all those 3D-ers at your field... have them come and give it a try. Fly what you got.
Club info is here: http://www.riversidercclub.org/ It has links to the maps and other club info. It's a great place to fly this time of year.
I'll run the event as the Assistant CD.
Come on out and have fun. Pilots meeting 9am, flying will start when the sun cooperates.
Sportsman, Intermediate, Advanced, Masters, and FAI. FAI will fly P13 (4 rounds, keeping best 3) and F13 (2 rounds, keeping best 1).

As an added note:
A memorial mass will be held Saturday March 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2046 Mar Vista Dr. Newport Beach, Ca 92660. A reception will follow at the church. His wife is anxious to meet Chuck's fellow flyers because they were such a big part of his life.

I will get the SD EMAC guys your flyer, some of them may join you since its not to far. They have a bunch of good pilots with full blown pattern planes. I am not going to be able to make it down as it is the same weekend as the Bakersfield IMAC contest and I need to be here for that, since the club was nice enough to let us have two weekends in one month for events.

The pre-registration link is up and running on the D-7 web site. If you are planning to attend, please register. It saves a bunch of time Saturday morning when you do. and we can get started in a timely manner.

Yep,
Link is up. It took me a minute to find it... its on top of the contest listing. Bill has the sanction and we are good to go.
Anyway, remember to invite anyone you know that is interested in trying out precision aerobatics (any AMA legal plane is fine in sportsman and intermediate). It should be a fun time. Long range weather is looking good so far.
We'll send a runner for subway sandwiches at lunch, like usual at this contest.
Hope to see you all there.

Hey Guys,
Don't forget to pre-register. It makes things a lot easier come Saturday. So, if you haven't done so already, please log on and pre-register.
The weather is still looking OK for Saturday and Sunday. It looks like a slight chance of rain on Friday but it is clearing out by Saturday. The field is open for practice on Friday. The road should be OK getting back to the field since we haven't had much rain this season. Even if we get some rain on Friday it should be OK. We'll get a condition report on Friday and I'll forward that on.

This is a little off the subject; I just got an e-mail from Gary Switala, him and Mike Austin will be attending the Riverside contest. Gary will be bringing a NIB untouched Vanquish 2 meter patternship that he would like to sell. Contact Gary at the field about pricing.

I will have a live WX station online once I get to the field Friday afternoon/evening. The link to get to it will be
http://www.wunderground.com/weathers...p?ID=KCALITTL4
It will be the first time I've tried this, so I hope it will work.

Cool! Thanks Mike.
Larry will go by the field today or tomorrow as well. I think we will be fine since we really didn't get much rain last night and into today. Friday is looking like some scattered showers and nothing dramatic. It should blow out of the area friday afternoon/evening.

I just got off the phone with Randy. He is at the field. The road is in great shape, just a few small puddles. The sky is partly open and some clouds are in the area. I checked weather radar and we'll probably get some showers out there in a bit. But, it looks like we are good to go!!! The real heavy rains are north of LA. Tomorrow looks good, but a bit cool. Sunday looks great!!
See you all out there.

Drive safely Dale, The Grapevine area looks a bit nasty right now but by the time you get down here it should be much better.
Bring a jacket, the temps will be cool in the morning.
See you guys tomorrow.

A band of pretty heavy rain is rolling through the area right now so it might be best to check the field out before trying to pull in there with a big trailer this afternoon. The heavy rain should be gone in a couple hours or so but it may need a while before it is ready for the big trailers.

Don't know if we'll make it down there tonight or not, I haven't heard if there is any snow going across the mountain. We might leave early in the morning, get there around 8

That should be fine Mike. Rains will be clearing out of the area and the mountains this evening so your drive in should be much easier if you wait. As usual at Riverside, we won't have a pilots meeting until 9 or so and flying won't begin until the sun allows us. So if you are there by 8 you'll be fine.

I just talked to Randy. It has stopped raining. He went back out to the field at about 5 or so and must have seen Mike Austin's tracks. He said it was slick so it's probably best to wait till morning to bring in a big trailer.
