Default Designed by Gerhard Mayr: YS-Toxiris

After several successful appearances on the European competition series not really a surprise anymore.....

With the introduction of the Toxiris the unique F3A designs by Gerhard Mayr became available for everybody. Not only for the ones who likes to fly slowly, but for everyone looking for an extreme stable plane.

The Toxiris was up till now only available in an electric variant, but will now also be available in a glow powered version...!!!

The plane is manufactured in similar way to the electric version, composite structure with paint finish.

It will have plug-in wings with incidence adjusters, as have the horizontal stabilizers.

As usual the ARF kit will come with a full hardware kit and is prepared for the installation of the YS-175 with YS anti-vibration mount.

First deliveries are expected in September 2012 and price will be similar to the electric Toxiris.

If you don't win with this thing, you can't blame it on the plane!!

Mayr always has something outside the box.......
Any idea why there is a free-rotating smaller prop in front? []

My guess is he's using it as a "brake" of some sort.

I think he just might have said that as a wind up - excuse the pun.

He said it helps slow the airplane down, it is not counter rotating, and Mayr has a lot, and mean a lot of stuff in his planes that we really wonder if they work, he is an extraordinary pilot, so unless I try some myself or someone else who has experience to judge it, I will simply think it makes things more complicated, and that is one thing I don't like. He is supposed to fly as slows as he ussually does, and still fly his electric version, but he did changed form electric to YS, as the sound of the YS has its own magic for the flight.

A guy like Mayr being top 10 might get everything pretty cheap or maybe free, and if he changed to YS is because he saw a benefit in it, there will be more YS at this next WC in South Africa, as the number increased already in Muncie's WC. We will see, and have to see what happens in the next Euros in 15 days.
