Emerald Coast Beachcomber Pattern Classic, October 6-7, 2012
The plan is to conduct the pilots' meeting at 0830 on Saturday andbegin flying at 0900. We will fly all classes, Sportsman,Intermediate, Advanced, Masters, and FAI. FAI will fly P-13 onSaturday and F-13 on Sunday. Awards will be presented through thirdplace in each class. The weight limit in Sportsman is raised to 20 lbs. Again, I will be running an unofficial "Club-Only" Sportsman class. This class is only open to current Eglin Aero Modelllers' mewmbers with no prior contest experience. They will fly in the Sportsman rotation, but will only compete against others in the club-only class. This side enent is unofficial and is intended to grow the pattern community by allowing EAM members the opportunity to participate in a contest in a reduced stress environment.

Alternatively, Ithe Niceville WalMart may allow overnight RV parking. The can be reached at (850) 389-3013.
Site security is the same as last year. The gate directly off SR-285 must remain locked during non-duty hours. I will add an event lock to the gate and will e-mail the combination to registered contestants during the week prior to the contest.
Ken Blackwell will be opening registration on the NSRCA District 3 website soon. Please register so we can populate PACSS in advance and have a good idea on how much food and drink we need to bring.

All,
Here is an update for the Beachcomber Contest. I was able to get a discount at the Niceville Quality Inn. The motel is blocking 15 rooms for us. The nightly rate is $79 (regular is $99). They are located at 101 Hwy 85, Niceville, FL, 32578, Phone: (850)678-8077. Just mention model airplane contest to get the special rate. The Quality Inn is the closest motel to the flying field.
Also, Jackie Powell, Cody’s mom, is arranging for a Saturday night dinner at Helga’s Restaurant and Bier Garten in Bluewater Bay. Helga’s features authentic German food and authentic German adult beverages. If you are interested in going to Helga’s, please send me an e-mail at [email protected] so I can give a planning number. I will take a final head count at the pilots’ meeting. Helga’s is located at 4504 E Highway 20 Ste B, Niceville, FL, 32578, in Bluewater Bay, near the Winn-Dixie.
Ken Blackwell opened registration on the NSRCA D3 website. If you think you might attend, please go ahead and register so I can get PACSS all set up in advance.
Finally, several of our club members have been busy sacrificing models to the weather gods in hopes of receiving calm winds and clear skies for the contest.
See you in October
