RE: D3 2012 Tangerine Pattern Classic
Tangerine is in the books. Sorry I didn't get these up last night, but I was wiped out. I think I was able to sit for judging and stand still long enough for 6 flights. If it wasn't for Jon Lowe letting me borrow his plane, and having it ready to fly when I was up, I wouldn't have been able to fly, Thanks Jon! No mishaps and a few battles for positions. The scoring program ate the final results for FAI, and even after Larry and I entered the 5th/6th rounds a second time, it still didn't take them, so no final numbers for FAI. (Here's the results, Larry re-entered all the FAI scores again. Thanks Larry)
Each pilot received a bottle of Zap from FTE, J'TEC stick plane, Dick's Sporting Goods gift certificate and a Team raffle ticket just for flying in the contest!
All the raffles went well (Kirby's Kustom Graphics, Grave's RC/J'TEC gift certificates, F3AU graphics/t-shirts, and FTE/Zap glue/hats) and everyone that was there on Sunday left with at least one prize. At the end we raffled the Rx's/ESC and there were a few horse-trades of these prizes. I think the 2 Spektrum Rx's and the OS ESC swapped hands at least once until everyone that won got what they were hoping for. Neil won a Rx, but swapped with Zachary for the ESC. I ended up drawing my own ticket for the ESC, but put it back and had Zachary come draw a ticket, and he ended up drawing his ticket (traded to Neil). Larry O. won the other Rx and gave it to Joe. Zachary couldn't wait to test fly his dad's new Era and put the new Rx in it and I did the test flight and Zachary flew the next one. (almost sounds like a sports trade day)
During the event, the F3A Unlimited gift certificates were raffled off, but one per class. And the winners were:
Sportsman: Terry Brockway (via George Gordon trade)
Intermediate: Cody Powell
Advanced: Victor Diaz
Masters: Ron Van Putte
FAI: Joe Walker
Michael Plummer won the Futaba 8J radio and Shulman Aviation Zip Stik package. Not only that, but he then donated another $50 to the US F3A Team fund. BTW: The US F3A Team raffle raised $363. THANK YOU to all that bought tickets in support of the team.
Hopefully others will post more as I probably missed a bunch of things during the event, but it was well worth the work so everyone could have an enjoyable contest.
Thank you to the RCACF club and the members that came out to help, Brittany and John for the great pictures and to Steve Homenda and Mike Constantine for organizing and running the event.

Some more pictures. It was very nice to see everyone and enjoyed the hospitality. JS signature series... seriously that Nuance flew very well by both Jason and Jon.
Great seeing past model aviation Pattern column writer Ron Van Putte. 1980 ish lots of great articles and some memories of past contests. Great to see Ivan, Brett, Bill, Jason, Takita, Ice Man (Mike) and the Assassin (Humberto).
Nice counter rotating setup (Bill's).

You guys will get it one day, its a secret meditation formula, not sleeping, right Marcio ? he he he
Sure wish I could have been there, but there was no way I could have been away from home at that time .
Just part of aging parents (89), parent InLaw, (87),and just regular Family issues of life.
I'd been a shoe in for the cows tail award in Masters, cause I just completed my first complete shot at the new 2013-14 Sequence last week
Back to normal December weather now here in Dixie, 48 outside now, not the 75 degrees of the past week or so.
Hope to see all again real soon,
