Hi all,
I am in the process of fitting the Engine bulkhead on my Xigris and just wondering if the 1/8 ply that comes with the kit is strong enough.............dont look like to me
I am using the YS175 CDI with YS mount on Alluminium frame and nose ring.
Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated
thank you in advance

I will laminate the 1/8 ply with carbon on both sides or make a 1/4 lite ply new bulkhead if I were you. The 1/8 ply alone should be ok, but peace of mind worth it.

If the ply is aircraft ply, 7 layers birch plywood, it will be fine as a firewall, But it will be heavy. If the 1/8" is lite ply, I wouldn't use it alone as firewall
A lighter alternative is 1/4" cross grained balsa/carbon laminate. I use thecross grained balsa and 3k carbon (both sides epoxied and vacuum compressed) for soft mounting engines as large as 60 cc gasoline. I insert short pieces of carbon tubing in the mounting holes and back up the holes for the blind nuts with 1/8" aircraft ply. I also cut out the center of this type of firewall to allow better breathing of the rear carbs....further firewall lightness is a side benefit
Look in my Derivative thread, somewhere around page 3for details
