According to mapquest it is about 6.5 hrs or 388 miles from Hoffman Estates to Grove City, OH.

Take I-70 East to I-270 South to I-71 South to Exit 97 (about 3 miles south of I-270).

We would love to have you but I know it is a long drive.

Columbus, Ohio now has casinos!!!!!

Hmmmmmm
I'm working on buying a trailor.
If I get one I can bring a group.
I feel the need to have the Northern D5 and D4 support each other's contests better this summer. We've a contest up here.
Thanks Ron hopefully we can make the trek. Mike

Keep in mind, the Weak signals is the weekend before the Columbus contest.

I would normally like to keep 2 weeks between contests but the following weekend is Fathers Day Weekend and the weekend after that is either open or taken by Mike Darr's Contest in Detroit.

Maybe we should have all contests in Muncie.

I don't mind driving to muncie every 2 weeks or so

OK, somebody has to ask the questions around here. So let me do the honors. What's a pattern contest?

Ask as many questions as you like... A pattern contest is actually an RC aerobatics contest. There are classes for all levels of flying from beginners to experts. We compete against one another in an effort to improve our flying skills. Tons of fun!

HAHAHAHA, I remember this field now, they gave us a t-shirt that I still have.

They had an IMAC contest 10-15 yrs ago, who can remember, where the neighbor on the corner got pissed off and started shooting his shotgun at our 40% planes. Didn't hit squat, but it was funny!

Normally the weak signals contest is in August but I think they wanted to move it because the Worlds is going on in August. I assume the CD Tim Jesky will be going with Andrew.

I should have less commitments this summer (bittersweet) and will be happy to help fill the void. It was really nice (for me) having a contest in Hebron - a real treat to be within an hour of a contest - so the Columbus contest is exicting to me. I am down for hitting up contests in Indiana and on the route toward Chicago.

Hello guys!
I just wanted to verify that camping is allowed at the field? I won't be at Weak Signals this year. My boys have their last soccer game. But Columbus as long as camping is allowed I'll be there.
Also, I'll be flying my Venus with the gasser and it's just a tad louder than your electrics. So... I'm wondering if the guy with the shot gun still lives close by.

Camping is allowed and glow and gas engines are not a problem as long as they are adequately muffled.

Ron, will your solar charging system be adequate for charging at the field?

The club has been having issues with the solar station lately.

So, I would not rely on it for the contest.

I will have my Honda 2000 available for those who don't have a generator.
