A big thanks to Don for running a smooth event! It was great meeting new people, as well as reconnecting with those I met at the Bud Garric contest last year. Ron Davies, thank you so much for all of the tips/help/calling, very much appreciated... also to Geoff Hodies for the same.
I got the chance to judge a round of Intermediate, and I have to say using Peter's digital scoring system was great! It was my first time judging, so the apprehension factor was high. Being able to enter a score without writing or looking down was a big help, otherwise I'm sure I would've fallen behind... kudos to Peter.
See you guys at the Woodland/Davis event!

I would like to thank Woodie & Ron "the chicken man" Davies for CDing the contest, Frank "Finger" Capone for cooking lunch. Great weather & turnout for the one day contest. Some pictures:-

Highlight for FAI was definitely the three of us - Don Atwood, his son Chris & myself - have decided to fly the last two rounds with my Wings Maker's AirMaster 40 size E pattern plane, we all had a great time,

What a gorgeous UFO... how did it do against the fancy electrics?

That is Dick Belden's UFO which he flew in Masters. I love the older pattern planes and fly them in the "old school" contests but there is just no comparison to a modern 2 meter plane! It truly is bringing a knife to a gunfight!

Thanks,

Tell me about it... I'm entering my first Pattern contest after 30+ years next July... with a Phoenix 7!

Well, the key is to remember you are there to have fun (as i know Dick did!) so don't let it bug you!

Thanks,

Yeah I love the plane... the only thing that bugs me is that it's too fast for turnaround... but hey it's gonna be out-of-state and in a beautiful mountain location so whaddaheck!

Great job Peter! Can't wait to try your new scoring system at the next contest. Maybe Lancaster summer heat one day? Or not . I'll have to wait for Franks Sacramento contest. I here he is going to have a few rounds of classic too. Hope you get the bugs out of the system by then. Thanks for all the hard work.

Donald
