Default D1 vs D2 Hollywood, MD pattern contest

First, yes my wife say I can get pop up ad blocker but the ads on this website are very annoying and have adversely affected my ability to navigate the site and post updates. Not sure cricket phone and refinancing is of interest to model airplanes.

Did I also say I cannot understand why ads in the actual text entry block. Ok I'll try and upload some pictures from Chris' contest. Great contest from Chris, Archie and Tara. There was representation from D1 and D2.

Finishers and helpers. I did not have any other photographs present for FAI so attempted a "selfie". Have to keep up with this younger generation.

A side note- Archie did a really neat demo on UAV for STEM activities. Its a new initiative backed by the AMA, and is modeled after similar other school STEM outreach events. The drone is buit and programmed by high school or junior high school student teams to then find wayward points, identify lost "hiker" or other representative articles from lost-and found- a practical application for students to work together and learn about aviation and drone safety as well. Archie may have some video to share of the event as well as additional details about this program.

During the last contest, several pilots asked me how to wind correct in a strong crosswind. Stay tuned for Don Manson's K factor article...

Hey Don! Thanks for posting the pics of the contest. Looks like everyone had a good time. That new runway surface looks great!

Maybe next year things will align better so I can make it down there again. Fun contest and we need more representation from D1

And I agree like many internet sites these days too much advertising, really slows down the site and makes it difficult to navigate. Everyone seems to be trying to cash in on this new business model.

Thanks for the kind words Don. It was a fun contest. The new runway is the Geotex?? Material. It works great. It is smooth and flat enough for micro planes and tough enough for turbines. We have been really pleased with it. It is not too pricey and a great alternative to paving.
