There was a good representation of CK Allure aircraft, all looked great. Also had some classic planes which did demo's during the noontime break before awards. I can remember clearly watching Dave Brown fly his Illusion at the 1983 NATS. His stall turns were unforgettable. He would stop the plane at the top of the Figure M with quarter rolls, then the plane would pivot around the cg exactly 180 degrees, then track a perfect down line. This was with wind blowing 10 to 15 mph down the runway at Chicopee, MA. It was a pleasure watching Richart Mintz and his dad taking their Illusion through the paces. I did get a flight on the Phoenix 7 after the contest. Several of us passed around the DX-18 to fly the Radian during a rain break on Saturday. Had a great time!

Thanks to everyone that attended, and everyone that helped to make the contest a success. There are more pictures of the event in the LVRCS photo gallery. Click to go directly to the 2016 Pattern Album.

[QUOTE=Don Szczur;12241835]While Joseph was off flying with his buddies in Triple Tree, I got to spend the weekend with Dad at the contest. This was great!
I'd like to thank all the contest helpers and the club for hosting the contest.
Now that's ironic - didn't realize he was flying at TTA....While we drove ~625mi. to come to LVRC, Joseph was within 15min. of our house!
Thanks for the congrats. I flew with LVRC a few times from 05-08. Great field and hospitality; Andy and Dana and wives (what troopers!) did a fantastic job! it's on the calendar for next year (so says the boss) A bit of a de-ja-vu for me..but not as much as for you!
I didn't know about the classic effort; next time, I'll bring the EU1-A

He first broached the topic 3 hours before we left, and my wife bought the airline ticket 2 hours before his departure (5:45 PM on Friday). I was packing up the car and in the middle of telling him how excited I was to be flying in a contest I waited 35 years to attend- LVRCs.... After listening to me, then watching me pull the old contest flyer out of the files from1982, figured he did not want to wait 35 years to attend the Youth Masters. Now after thinking about it some more, I recall over the last 5 years how much he wanted to go- first asking when he was 11 or 12. Since this would be his last year he could attend and not be too old, I think that's the reason he wanted to go. Plus he wanted to see his buddies, some which are now flying outdoor pattern and F3P. He did say how much fun he had at the event. I heard some stories and saw a few on line videos floating around (pun intended) and it sounds like all the kids had a great time there. I think I enjoyed LVRC so it worked out well!
