You need to narrow your question a little bit. You are already comparing 50, 60 and 90 size models. Some of those you have listed are relatively new, others are quite old in terms of how quickly things change in pattern. These simply do not compare. I'm a bit surprised someone hasn't already posted a 2 meter size ship. If you state what size you are looking for, possibly price range, you will more than likely get some good feedback.

As far as those you have listed, I like the Suprafly. I'm still trying to find one of Ken Jackson's kits from back in the 80's.

What's wrong with the "Joker?" It is relatively inexpensive. not hard to build, and so long as you glass the fuselage around the wing saddle it's quite strong.

I think performance wise flying fish is the one of the strong competetors with some mysterious flying characteristics w.r.t its design. I still dont understand how this thing can do such a perfect knife edge with such such a tiny rudder..(I d say there is just a trace of rudder) dunno whether it is still available or not. I think it is made by model tech correct me If I am wrong.

Knife edge performance is more dependent on fuse side area (total area and placement of that area) than it is on rudder size. When was the last time you saw a Duraplane knife edge very well? OTOH, models with enough side area on the CG will knife edge very nicely.

By far the most dominant I've ever seen.

the enigma or evolis are probably the best flying pattern ships around.

If the Zen90 were in the list, I would vote for Zen90. I also have a Zen50 but that does not compare in performance to the Zen90.

I am trying to compare all types of pattren ships from history to present.

Suprafly being a tiny plane also won and the huge majestic too .... lets see which turns out to be the best pattrenship of all time.
And i forgot to mention Sensation. anybody has thoughts on that ?

If you truly want an "All Time Best" list you should not have started this as a poll. Your list will never include all good candidates. For example, you left the first "Modern" plane out completely, Ed Kasmirski's "Taurus."

What about the Kaos or the many different designs it spawned or was spawned from? Pheonix series? Etc., etc., etc., ......

Not tryin to change the topic here but I have a guy tryin to sell me one of these kits. It's old obviously, but complete. Any thoughts from you. Were they a good flyer.

Aim:

I like it. I think the Taurus is an attractive plane, and it does fly well even though it's probably far from the best if you intend to enter a pattern contest. It obviously is an old design.

I have flown more pattern planes than I can remember. The one that sticks out in my mind is the MK Aurora. I built it back in 87 and it was one of the most honest airplanes I have ever flown.

Tipo's for me - I got 4 of 'em

The Tipo 750+ with the fuse that was lenghtened 4 in. is one of the best older planes. I still have 2 of them. But still does not compare to a 2meter plane such as the smargd or the temptation.

Probably true - never tried to fly a Smargd - but I do know that a Smargd is at least 10X the cost of a Tipo. Don't ya wish there was a 2M Tipo?

Heck, I wish the old pattern planes were still available at the old price

Check with Joe Bridi.....he might still have the "Killer Kaos" kits
for $70.00........maybe even the Escape, Great Escape, or the XLT's.

No, I want the $150.00 Tipo + kit from Dick Hansen or the $200.00 Cursor kit from R/C City. How about the $99.95 Checkmate from Craftair?

I have been trying to find a pattern airplane kit like Dirty Bird (Joe has retired) or Tiporare. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to buy pattern kits. I am not looking for one of the expensive FG kits, rather a balsa fus and build up wing.

Have you tried Singapore Hobbies? They still have a lot of the good old MK kits. The Curare 60 is still available, but I don't think it is the balsa kit, FG + Sheeted Foam. All of the Tipos that I've ever known of (and I have 4 of them, 3 Great Planes and 1 WK kit) are FG + sheeted wings.

IF you are willing to scratch build a plane.....like the TIPORARE.....you can get the plans from Bill Northrop's Plans service. Just ask for plan # 2801. The Tipo does have a foam core wing and stab.

wow what about zn's and pl's and all the new 2m designs??
