I am in need of a pattern plane kit to build, preferably built up not composite, I have a new 140 sport and 8411 servos. Any ideas on a competitive pattern plane? I am experienced but not in pattern

The Focus II is a all wood. The cowl and wheel pants are the only thing that is fiberglass.
Go to www.piedmontmodels.com and go to NEWS and click on picture of completed kit and scroll down for other pics. I think you will be able to get them sometime near Christmas.
I have flew one of the Focus I that have the Focus II wings and stab and I flew very well.
The 140 sport will give you good power with this plane. With a APC 16X11 30% fuel. It will turn that prop at about 8600 rpm. Good combo!

Twister, if you're looking for an all balsa/ply 2M pattern kit, I don't think you're going to find one. There are a lot of good composite fuselage / foam wing & tail "kits" available.
I have a Typhoon bought used that was scratch-built all wood from plans available from gatorrc.com. These are the people who sell a fuselage building jig, so you'd think they should know something about wood fuselages. You could give them a call and see what they can tell/sell you. The Typhoon is available in at least 3 sizes, but I think the Typhoon 2000 is the only one currently available in any kind of kit form.
Also check with Precision Aero Composites, who usually have a bunch of stuff that's not always shown on their website. I notice that some of their "kits" offer plans; in some cases that may mean plans for built-up fuselage to go with foam wings & tailfeathers.
Also have a look at the thread on "2M pattern plans" a couple pages down on this forum. Plans for scratch building, we have a few nice ones. Fiberglass fuselage kits, we got plenty. Two-meter all-wood kits, I don't think so. I think the closest you might come would be to get a set of Typhoon plans and then have a kit cutter do up a set of laser cut ribs & formers. Then you still need cowl & canopy, maybe also chin cowl/belly pan/pipe tunnel, etc. If you want a competitive plane, you're going to have to get modern with your materials to some significant degree.
If you just want something to fly your engine and servos without actually getting into competitive pattern flying, you could look around for a NIB Ultrasport 1000. (I happen to have one, but I wanna build it myself.)

The few choices that come to mind are the MK [link=http://www.singahobby.com/mkp03.html]Blue Angel VR-7, Wild Beat 777, or the Topstar[/link], it looks like they're designed by Naruke or Akiba, so you know its a good plane; or the Bridi 2+2 [link=http://www.bridiradiocontrol.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Product_ID=39&CATID=5]Dirty Birdy[/link], for which I would recommend having really good building skills.

The Typhoon 2000 and the Patriot can be built from plans that are available. Both are very competitive planes. There is a lot of info on the t2k on this thread:

Also, check Gerald Williams website:

Take a look at the ZIMPRO Viper 91 or Viper 2M. it is a almost ready hand crafted wood plane that you need to do your radio work and mount the stabs and put turtle deck on and cover... plus you can't beat the price..[8D]
