I am certain that you will find many opinios on the "best" servos to do the job on a 6.0 volt system
Here are my picks for Futaba.
Ailerons: 9550, metal geared, extremely fast, low profile
Rudder and elevator: 9350, very strong, metal geared, fast, standard case size OR 9421 which are not quite as strong but strong enough and VERY fast.
Throttle: 3102, almost an indestructable mini and accurate.

Has any body used the small Futaba digitals # 9650. J.Shulman used them in Poland, but I have heard no other reports on them.

Hi Dave
I have them on a Flip 3D, nice little servos lots of power and pretty quick. They would be a good choice if you were planning servos in elevator half. I noticed that both Chip and Jason had them on ailerons as well, they didnt seem to have any problems. Personally I wouldn't use them for ailerons, but they would be nice on elevators.

Central Doesn't always have new stuff on the website...Takes a phone call to them.
But Tower will have them if they are available...Was it no servo of that kind or just out of stock right now?
I don't deal with the red pages!
I prefer the JR solution...
9411SA on ailerons (mid sized servo) short to fit in any wing
8411SA on Rudder
8417 (SA) on elevator
3421SA on throttle
The SA stands for Special Application servo. Basically it means the servo has been converted from metal gears to nylons. We in pattern models don't need the robust metal gear trains. We want precision and longevity. The metal gears will wear faster than those in nylon geared servo.
At first many of use were converting the servos to SA's now Horizon Hobby has released them as SA servos that you can buy already converted for you. All except the 8417's...These servos are a Chopper tail rotor servo and are super fast 0.09sec and about 90oz of torque. When you convert them to nylon gears there is not a direct replacement of the gears so you change the speed and power slightly. The speed drops a little and the power goes up a little...Like 0.12sec and 100oz.
I have not measured them but its a guess. I love these fast powerful servos on elevator especially for snaps....makes for a crisp clean break on entry and for a fast quick recovery too.
I know your a Futaba guy but the JR digitals are wortha serious look. I have found them to be superior and at a better price than the Futaba ones. Also the JR servos work fine in the Futaba radio gear.
Seriously you will be surprised in the difference between the Fut and JR servos.
Plus the big story is service after the purchase. In this category for the USA JR wins hands down for sure. Horizon will take great care of you with service on any of premium digital servos. They understand the needs of the modeler with top end equipment and give first rate service on these products....plus a 3 yr warranty on everything JR...and is the best warranty in the market today.
I used to fly Futaba and since the switch to JR I'm thrilled with the radio gear its the best I have ever used period. And I flew Futaba for about 10-12 years.
enough commercial

Hi Chad: I have two of the 9650's which I have installed in the stabs of a Gator Giles 202 I am in the process of building. Next Spring tho before any flying on them.
Steve Alexander had 9602's on his elevators in both Excellences. Those are the same physical size as the 9650s. They seemed to work O.K.,but I believe they had metal gears.
Like you,I prefer the non-metal gear servos, but was a bit concerned over the plastic (?) gears small size.
Cheers,,,,,,,Dave

I use all metal gear digitals from Futaba: 9550s (low profile) on ailerons and 9451s on elev and rudder. I had a S9101 on throttle, but switched to a Hitec 81 and moved the servo up front to the belly pan right behind the engine.

Hi Can,
I can recommend jr ds 8231 servos for ailerons & elevator control with BN Models belcrank ..
these servos have plastic gear but fast & enough powerful & much more economic solution for you..
but for the rudder a metal gear fast servo ( jr 8411 or futaba 9402 ) is much better for you...

Hi Can (reads John),
Although I still use my JR 8231 servos with my Futaba 9Zwc2 in my Mantis EX, I admit I am not a big fan of these servos. Don't get me wrong, I certainly agree that they are very good. The only part I dislike is their (little) low speed. Other than this I had a problem of oscillation around the neutral in my rudder servo after about fifty flights that I couldn't get rid of it by playing with the linkage adjustments. I don't use 6 volts batteries, I am just using standart 4 cell packs. It seems the servo potantiometer is somehow getting dirty and needs to be cleaned frequently. The strange part is, this only occurs in the servo that I use on the rudder. I replaced it with a new one and it happened again and again.
To make a long story short, my recommendation for your servo choice is the same as what Chad uses.
9150 on ailerons
9151 on rudder
9252 on elevator
and
a smaller size good quality servo for the throttle, 9602 is a perfect match.
Using Futaba servos will also match your choice of radio!
Cheers

Thank you Nedim and Oscar ,
It is very pleasing to meet old friends in this platform,
Finally, according to all recommends and of course to my budget I finally ordered:
Futaba 9252 for the elevator,
9151 for the rudder,
9101 for the ailerons and
a metal geared micro 3102 for the throttle.
It seems like a good combination for me.I may upgrade the aileron servos with s 9150 in the future.
And Nedim we are waiting more Mantis 3D pictures.
Thank you for all responses and have good flights, and check [8D]www.bnmodels.com [/b] in the near future for the .90 size fiber fusalage pattern plane, I am sure you will be amazed by the fabrication quality.
